Save 10% at Staples, Lowe’s, Boxed, and Dell with Personal Amex Cards Too

We reported earlier today on new Amex Offer deals which showed up today for 10% off at Staples, Lowes, Boxed, and Dell through June. The print of the offer shows it as a business card deal, and that’s how we reported it initially, yet readers point out that it’s showing on personal cards as well. Just a headsup here.

Though the verbiage of the offer is “get 10% back using your enrolled business card”, it’s fair to assume it’ll work fine on any card it’s saved on. Just double check before actually using to ensure that it hasn’t disappeared, in case Amex decides to pull this back. Maybe screenshot too.

Update from Will: If you have an offer on both business & personal, definitely add it to the business card. I don’t trust American Express at all, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t honor ones on personal cards.

AO’s = Amex Offers

But I don’t know what he meant either, haven’t logged in to check

I know, but they’re not dead…

They were there this morning for me, got to work & went to add them and they’ve all disappeared from all my logins & AU. Yes, I have biz cards, yes I have legit AU logins.

Yep, same thing happened to me, saw Staples and Lowe’s. Went back to add them and they were gone. Let me know if you have any luck later.

If you have both Business and personal, apply offer to Business to be safe.

I had these offers on all my cards(personal and business). Looking at my set I do not think Boxed.com was made available to personal accounts while thw other 3 yes

If I have on personal and business, will they claw back if I use on both?

TL;DR Amex doesn’t have to “do the right thing” here, so I don’t expect them to.

I just can’t get behind this one. I’ll put it on business cards if it’s available and wish no claw backs on those who attempt this on personal cards where it is showing. I see zero reason why Amex has to fulfill/not clawback this offer on personal cards. My suspicion of them comes from seeing their clawing back of the Staples offer- even on closed cards and not just of those who actually were abusing the system to the tune of thousands- and their refusals of multiple people’s bonuses (who didn’t receive the pop-up) since they added the new “we can deny your bonus if we think you’re gaming the system” phrase to their agreements.

Yeah weren’t the previous clawbacks in question from people who had it on like 20 cards and went ahead and did it even though it looked like it no longer worked? I’ve had no problem with people doing that mind you but I doubt this time around Amex will claw back somebody using it on one personal card instead of one business card. I think losing thousands of dollars but bad for business. Losing $50 at Staples (not even close to that really) probably doesn’t register with the company at all.

When logging into my personal “Sorry about that! It doesn’t happen often, but offers are currently unavailable. Please try again later.”

Could be just on my end, but $20 says they are fixing this and all the offers will disappear from everyone’s personal cards.

Do try again. 😉 Have a hunch you’re jumping to incorrect conclusions…. Saw those same glitch messages pop up even on my wife’s spg bz card. Tried again within seconds and it worked…. (same over on personal side of my cards.)

Yeah I suppose too quick to jump to conclusions! Nothing for me when it rebooted, but already had it on my biz. Oh well less risk this way.

You get that message when the browser doesn’t get the offer data within the ~6s timeout. Just try again, later if need be.

Had it on a personal card and ordered $500 worth of visa cards from staples and got the confirmation email from amex.

will amex pay out on visa gift cards…what about the L3 data that’s been mentioned in other comments? or is that just in regards to signup bonuses?

I have ordered visa cards from staples before with amex offers and have received the credit.

But don’t be surprised if they claw it back and invoke the business card terminology when doing it. I havent gotten any of these offers on either business or personal cards. Not sure I’d bite if it shows on personal though.

Got Lowe’s and Staples offers on my recently upgraded BCP card. Not a business card at all. Interestingly the Staples offered shows up for both me and P2(and let me add to both cards), but I will only use one after reading about the clawbacks that it’s one per account not per card.

If the second card is under a different SSN, you should be fine. It’s one per American Express Card Member.

Is this new round of offers after the ones that ended in November 2018?

Also can it be done on Multiple cards?

not a single one on ~20 accounts 🙁
edit:
well, about 8 gave me no offers and the usual error of “oops, this doesn’t happen often”

I wonder if the offer is showing up only on those personal cards which were linked to the business offers using the glitch link the last time these offers came out? That would explain why this new “business offer” system (which is designed to replace OPEN Savings) still thinks those cards are business cards for the purpose of this offer. Are there any DPs of personal cards which have this offer that weren’t linked up in order to get the offers to show the last time? I can’t check since all of mine were linked last time. If you remember, the last time, originally only business cards were showing the offer, but there was a link where you could log in and add the offers to any card.

Showed up on AU Amex Blue which is not in any way linked to my business card and I did not do any glitches last time.

I didn’t use the glitch link last year and I did have the offers on my personal cards this time but I only added them to two separate SSN cards.

I got all the offers on most of my cards including personal Plat as well as BBP. I tried multi-browser trick and it didn’t work. But like a fool, i added it to Plat first, even though BBP earns more as well. Now too late to switch.

I saw these offers on my card this morning but did not add them yet. Logged in just now and all of them are gone. I’m hoping it’s just a glitch.

I saw them at 7:30am local, when. I went to add them at 8:45, they were gone. All of the above commenters saying they weren’t targeted just don’t realize the AO’s were already dead before they logged in to check.

Celia

That was way too quick to hit the enrollment limit. Amex may have screwed up with opening it to personal cards, many more of them.stinks for those who missed out with legit cards.
