  • Southwest is offering 20% off award flights when you use the promo code SAVENOW. Must book by March 25 for travel by April 30, 2021

Our Verdict

Nice to see some airlines offer a discount as we slowly exit the pandemic, while others are busy devaluating their program. It’s also worth checking existing tickets to see if it makes sense to cancel and rebook.

Add that to the 40% off buy points discount if there are account points that ready to move. Should make that decision today, 3/24, as this may go popular fast.

Fantastic! I rescheduled my trip to FLL from May to April. I got 2.2 cent per UR point using this offer.

I’d love to take this, but I have so much $ in SW that could expire soon. Points never expire, cancelled tix credits do. …Or can we kind of perpetually cycle that forward? If possible, any reason not to do that?

Southwest funds keep the expiration of the original booking is my understanding.

Yes that is my understanding as well. Just booked a flight with travel funds, and they stated this at the time. I also spoke with a rep on the phone, who said you have to book and fly by the expiration date.

yeah expiring credit is annoying. it’s a shame that if you use a $5 travel credit that expires next month to buy a $200 flight, the $195 you paid cash ALSO expires next month.

I’m not sure if it’s crappy IT systems or ingenious business decision.

I try to pay with points for that reason.
