Southwest Will Stop Flying Internationally Starting This Sunday

Southwest has announced a number of schedule modifications. The biggest is that starting Sunday March 22nd, 2020 Southwest will stop flying international destinations. The current plan is to resume flying to those destinations starting May 4th, but that is obviously subject to change. In my opinion Southwest has done the best job in supporting customers during this time:

They have been doing the best job AND the first to react to the community on the standards they will uphold. Personally, Southwest was the first email I received from any company regarding the Covid-19 update.

LUV and AS are the only airlines with enough cash on hand – to not need a bailout at this time. I still own stock in both (owned other airlines in various funds – but moved out of all mutual funds into Treasuries last month).

I think it helps that both have limited Int’l flights (just 737/Airbus 320 planes) to Mex/Canada and Caribbean/C.America – pretty much all flights are bread and butter no cash cow lie-flat cabins.
