The Offer
- Aerolines Argentinas is offering a status match deal. To complete the status match you need to:
- Open an account if you don’t have one already
- Send an e-mail to [email protected].
- Subject line must be ‘DesafÃo Status Match.’
- Body of e-mail must contain your memebrship number, full name, e-mail address and a copy of your last statement or membership card showing your name and status. Status must be valid for at least 3 months
- They specifically mention  American, British Airways, GOL, Hilton, Iberia, LATAM, or United as being programs they will match from, but state that other programs will work too. You can’t match from another SkyTeam member though.
The Fine Print
- Status will be valid for 12 months
- Valid until Friday 21/12/2018 at 23:59 hs inclusive (Argentina time).
Our Verdict
You will either be given Gold or Platinum status. This will get you either SkyTeam Elite or SkyTeam Elite Plus membership, useful for other partner airlines. Benefits are as follows:
Unfortunately we don’t have any data points on what status with different programs gets you as of yet.

I’ve submitted this last evening, on Friday, 21st. Didn’t get any messages about full mailbox, at least not yet, so, it looks like they might have fixed the overflowing issue sometime on Friday 21st, the last day, after it overflowed on Thursday 20th.
I highly doubt they’ll be matching anyone, TBH. You can’t even register for a number on their en-us site — have to use en-ar one, and the whole promotion is available only in non-English as well. Also, had the same issues as everyone else with registration, as it didn’t like upper-case characters in email etc.
Worth a try, but looking at their relative small size, I doubt they’ll have the capacity to upgrade all of us churners for top elite status. Wouldn’t they have to pay Delta if folks start using the lounge and seat upgrade benefits etc? Or do they get the profit based on collecting and likely expiring all of our SkyPeso miles henceforth?
Seems poorly thought out. If your system can’t handle a blog picking up your story then you need to add more terms and conditions on who can apply. I do agree that this isn’t going anywhere, at best the upgrade only those they think might actually fly with them.

When you get upgraded to Gold or Diamond based on the AmEx card you hold, you get an email that has the expiration date of the status on it. I used a screenshot from that email. Let’s see if that works.
Did we crash their e-mail? I received a bounce-back message saying a particular employee’s mailbox was full.

I didn’t get my registration confirmation email for 2 days, guessing these matches will be very slow/not completed.
Thank goodness for Google translate. High school Spanish was way too long ago! Rolling the dice I guess, let’s see if they’ll take my Hilton Gold card screenshot. I used a screenshot from within the Hilton app and sent them a PDF of it…
Sent my Hilton Gold proof. Got a Spanish email back. Google Translated it. After logging in (nightmare), I still didn’t know what status match I got. Where can I see it?

I submitted a download of my Hilton card showing Diamond status, but it doesn’t include an expiration date. I also added a screenshot of the top part of my member account that shows how long I’ve been a member.
Since my status is through my Aspire card, I don’t have anything that shows an actual expiration date. In my account online, it only shows that my current status is Diamond and will drop next year if I haven’t completed a whole bunch stays.
Is there a trick to getting something that shows an expiration date for next year for folks that have status through the Aspire card?
Has anyone else tried to use Marriott status? I have lifetime Platinum with them. If they’ll take a standard Hilton Gold, I’d guess this would be ok, but curious if anyone else has tried.
So in order to get Skyteam elite benefits, I need to add my Aerolineas Argentinas FF# to my reservation…and earn miles in their program? Yeah, no thanks.
If you’re not going to hit status with Delta why not? Delta Skyclub access is something, Comfort+ seating is nice, as is priority boarding. You’d be foregoing a couple skypesos but those have been so devalued so what?
Add it to gain lounge access, and than before the flight, switch it to your DL FFN
What if you need the status for extra luggage?
Don’t think you can change it after you check in.
