The Offer
- Receive a bonus of $100 when you open a checking account with Sunflower bank, the requirements for the bonus are not listed. But reader Logan found them out (thanks, Logan!):
- Receive $50 for opening your households first checking account
- Receive $10 for enrolling in eStatements
- Receive $10 for each automatic deposit or automatic payment from the new account (up to three)
- Receive $10 for applying for a Sunflower Bank credit card
The Fine Print
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
There is a $6 monthly fee, this is reduced to $1 when you enrolled in eStatements. Every time you use your debit card the fee will be reduced by 25¢ as well. I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule, so I’m unsure if one is charged or not
Our Verdict
Not a great bonus as you only get $90 without the credit card application and there is no bonus on those cards. There is also no credit card funding, I think there are much better options out there for most people (you can find a list of them here).
