Update 1/30/23: The $150 Swagbucks part is still around. The Axos part of the bonus is down to $100 now.
Update 1/6/22: The $150 offer from Axos has been extended through 1/11/23. We don’t know the expiration on the Swabucks part.
Update 12/26/22: The Swagbucks to $150. Looks like there’s also $150 from Axos with 3 months of $1,000 direct deposits when you use promo code HOLIDAY. That makes $300 total possible.
Update 9/8/22: There’s now 12,000 (around $75-$80) on MyPoints, $65 on Swagbucks, and $80 on Rebatesme. This stacks nicely with the $300 bonus for $380 total bonus.
The Offer
- Swagbucks is offering 15,000 ($150) for opening a new Axos checking account and deposing $750.
Avoiding Fees
This checking account does not have any monthly fees.
Our Verdict
We have seen Axos at $300 before so this isn’t the best ever, but the combination of $150 SB and $150 from Axos could still be a nice deal.
These Swagbucks won’t get a Form 1099 and may or may not be taxable (please consult your tax advisor on this), in which case its value would be higher. There are no fees and there are no requirements other than the $750 deposit for the Swagbucks side of the deal.
If you’re new to Swagbucks then please read our review. You can get a bonus of up to $13 by using a referral link.
There is a $1.5K DD requirement, not $1K anymore.
“You must open your new Rewards Checking account and have qualifying direct deposit(s) that total at least $1,500.00 within a single calendar month during the first three (3) calendar months your account is open, including the month in which your account was opened.”
How do you do the offer in order to get both the SB and the Axos brokerage? What are the steps to sign up and receive both bonuses? Do you just go through swagbucks and enter an Axos code or how does it work? Thanks. G
Go to SB offer page. Press “Get 15000 SB”. Use the code RC100 on the opened Axos page with your Axos application.
In my case, the Axos application page did not save the code. I asked to add the code via chat after the account was opened.
I want to give everyone a heads up. AXOS Bank has sent an email communication to my P2 stating that they noticed transactions (i.e. real direct deposits) in their personal account from a third party (P1). They advised that third-party transactions cannot be accepted into the account and that those transactions need to cease or the account may be closed.
First, fuck AXOS bank! Second, this is very rare to occur. Over the course of numerous accounts, the only other time it occurred was the result of me calling the bank for an issue that I can’t recall, and they noticed the detail for the direct deposit didn’t contain P1’s name in the direct deposit detail and then said P2 would need to add P1’s name to the account. Nothing further came of it even though I continued having direct deposits made into the account until closed. That’s not the case here with AXOS bank. Third, I can understand they have their pedantic rules and want both names on the account, but I have a separate account at AXOS so that’s not going to happen here, and I never do joint accounts for reasons you should already know from being here at DOC. Fourth, P2 is a homemaker, and it’s completely legitimate and legal for my direct deposit to be deposited into an account in P2’s name. There’s no shenanigans going on here. Source of income for a homemaker can absolutely be from a spouse. Since P2 is currently retired (healthcare if you give a shit), then you guessed it, I’m the source of monthly income. Fifth, I’m almost done with AXOS anyway as February is the second of three monthly $50 bonus payments, so I don’t give a flying fuck if they want to close the account. Sixth, what they’ve effectively done here is ensure that I never do future business beyond taking all the money I can from their bank and brokerage bonuses, which was probably the only reason I would open accounts with them to begin with.
Just be advised that they are checking direct deposit details in their back-end systems so fuck around and find out at your own risk! In my case, there have been three total direct deposits made in January and February, and they emailed P2 after the third one.

Their website mentions this account is available to resident aliens. I am not sure if resident alien according to IRS definition qualifies. Anyway, while opening the checking account there is juts yes/no question to check if you are US citizen. Non citizens are kicked out when applying,
Got SB $150 posted a few days ago. Also got $50 posted for my Jan $1000+ “DD” via Schwab.
Just FYI: $100 from Axos now – https://www.axosbank.com/ax-rewards-checking
$150 from SB is still active.
I’ll update
I opened in late December and I have done $1000 in real DDs in January. Do they pay the $150 after the end of the 3 months, or do you get $50 each month that you have $1000 in DDs? I swear I saw that it paid out in $50 installments, but maybe I misread.
I always screenshot the bonus terms. It’s $50/month for 3 months.
It is also the 3 of the first 4 months, it is totally fine if you miss 1 month.
Lost track of the terms. I signed up for this on 12/26 and have already received my swagbucks $150. For the other $150, I have to to make 1K deposit every month for 3 months, and then must wait 3 more months before closing, but no fees for keeping it at $1 balance?
Think I messed up because I only sent $750 in. Just sent in 250 more, but don’t know if it’s on time.
No. You should receive the $50/month bonus after $1k DD within 10 days after the end of each month. Paid out in 3 installments for up to $150 total.
I’m confused, I signed up for an Axos checking account through the Swagbucks link under the “Deposit $750 and receive $150 in SB” offer. I’m trying to set up the DD’s for the other $150 bonus but my Axos account says it is a money market account, not the checking account.
Anyone else have this happen? Did I just hit the wrong key somehow when applying?
The $150 in SB (for the $750) is pending to credit in ten days, FWIW.
same! I was just gonna comment the exact same thing
In the account details tab, my account also changed to “Money Market ****” in the Account Nickname line, but it still says “Rewards Checking” in the Account Type line. You can edit the entry in the Account Nickname line but not in the Account Type line, so I think it’ll be fine. Changed my Account Nickname back to “Rewards Checking ****.” I would check that the same is true in your case.
Opened account for $150 bonus (just before it dropped to $100) on January 11. $750 pull from Ally finally showing up today and 15k now pending in Swagbucks after having the “orange button” for several days.
Anyone in the past use Fidelity as DD?
No DPs I can see, but other sources have worked
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/knowledge-base/list-methods-banks-count-direct-deposits/#Axos_Bank
checked the Rewards tab and the fidelity brokerage ach is counting as a DD
