  • Synchrony Bank/GE Capital Bank denies all wrong doings but has agreed to settle a class action against them. You’re eligible for a settlement if at any time after August 22nd 2008 through June, 16 2016 Synchrony Bank (GE Capital Bank):
    • Called using an artificial or prerecorded voice and/or
    • Used an automatic telephone dialing system and
  • Where the person called was called regarding an account that did not belong to them and did not provide the number to Synchrony or is not a person who had consented to receiving calls at that cellular number
  • The settlement you receive will vary, the settlement pool is $7,000,000

  • Must claim by November 14th, 2016
  • The settlement you receive will vary, the settlement pool is $7,000,000
  • You waive your right to sue for this issue if you participate in this settlement, or fail to opt out by November 14th, 2016

Our Verdict

I always think these settlements are worth participating in if you’re eligible and don’t have any plans to individually sue. As always, only participate if you’re eligible. A lot of financial institutions have agreed to settlements regarding TCPA violations in the past and I’m sure more will continue to do so as they come up. Additional class action settlements that we’ve covered can be viewed here. I just got a check for $925! I had no idea about the lawsuit. Figured check was some sort of scam so I googled it.
