Our Verdict
I really don’t like posting targeted offers, since the same email that I received with the offer, you received as well, assuming you were targeted.
However, on a similar offer in the past with Discover points, I was able to use the code posted, despite not having gotten any email or mailing notifying me of the promotion. As such, I thought it would be worthwhile for people to check this out for themselves to see if the system allows the code on their account.
On the previous Discover offer, I purchased a $25 Whole Foods gift card and I paid 1¢ with points and the balance with my Discover card. (You apparently need to pay the balance with the associated card.) I tried doing the same on this offer with my Chase Ultimate Reward points, since I never used them before on Amazon, but the system didn’t allow me to use it: “The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase”. Hopefully, you’ll have better luck than me.
One final thought: In the past, many people had success chatting with an Amazon rep and getting credited the $10 manually, even though they weren’t targeted.
