- American Express is offering some businesses a sign up bonus of up to 125,000 points on the Business Platinum. Tiered bonus is broken down as follows:
- 100,000 points after $10,000 in spend within the first three months
- An additional 25,000 points after an additional $10,000 in spend within the first three months

- Annual fee of $450 is not waived the first year
- Card earns at the following rates:
- 5x points per $1 spent on purchases made with airlines or hotels booked directly from AmericanExpress Travel website
- 1.5x points on qualifying purchases of $5,000 or more
- 1x points on all other purchases
- $200 airline incidental credit per calendar year

- You can only get the sign up bonus on American Express cards once per lifetime.
Our Verdict
It’s possible to get a bonus of 100,000 points and we’ve seen targeted bonuses for 150,000 with the same spend requirements but this 125,000 offer is new. It’s strictly a worse offer than the 150,000 offer and better than the 100,000 offer. When comparing to the 100,000 offer you’re basically getting another 2.5x points per $1 spent on the second set of $10,000 in spend. Meeting $20,000 within three months of account opening will be extremely difficult for most people so in practice there will be no real difference between the 100,000 and 125,000 offers.
