Our Verdict

Previous deal was $50 back. I’m guessing we will see lower offers as travel starts to resume. In the past purchasing gift cards at the front desk has worked to trigger the credit.

Stayed at a Marriott hotel. Estimate said total would be just over $200 with pet fee and tax. After checking out, noticed pet fee was not taxed like the estimate, so I was $6 short. Was too late to correct. Oh well.

Has anyone had luck using this on a prepaid rate? I am interested in booking a prepaid room rate for a stay in July, and based on the terms, it seems as though this should qualify for the credit. But I wanted to see if I could get any data points on this working for prepaid rates, before booking a non-refundable rate.

Are taxes on the room rate and charges considered part of the room rate and charges?

Does $200 need to be a single transaction? Will it work on destination fees? My stay is booked on points.

Word of warning about waiting for it to appear on the Marriott branded cards- I had it show up on my Plat and Cash Preferred, but figured I’d wait to see if it appears on my Brilliant. Looks like it disappeared from my Plat and CP as of June 1. Not sure if it was a date thing or if they reached a certain max number of adds. Either way it’s not available for me to sign up on any card now.

Does anybody know if you can split your payments across multiple cards at the hotel? Meaning if my hotel bill is $1000, I put $200 on 5 different cards that have this Amex offer linked to it

Usually yes. Just let them know you want to split payment this way.

You can split but you can’t add the offer to 5 different cards. When you add it to the first others will disappear.
