[Targeted] Citi $50 Bonus for Adding Authorized User Card

The Offer

Many readers let us know about a bonus offer they’re getting their Citi cards via email. These offers are being seen on various cards such as Prestige, Premier, Preferred, Hilton, AA, etc.

There are two versions of the offer:

  • Get a $50 bonus after adding an Authorized User and spending $2,000 by 3/31/17
  • Get a $50 bonus after adding an Authorized User and spending $3,000 by 3/31/17

Just bear in mind that Prestige charges a $50 fee for adding an AU card. There might be other cards have a fee as well.

Our Verdict

Assuming you see this on a card you put spend on anyway, it should be easy enough to add an AU and do the spend; hopefully, you got the $2k spend offer which is easier.

I’m not sure if the spend must be done on the AU card or if it can be done on the primary card too. [A commenter notes they confirmed that spend can be done on either card.]

Just beware that it could show up on your credit report and affect your 5/24 status.

There are also a bunch of other bonus spend offers being offered by Citi. You might even be able to double dip and do the spend offer and AU offer with one spend.

Got it in mail today but didn’t mention any card, just showed photo of Citi Preferred, card I closed 4 months ago.

I would have liked it on Prestige, but not sure if its transferable like that to a different card.

Very annoying that neither the email nor sign-up process mentioned the $50 Prestige Au fee! I signed up on my phone while traveling this week and didn’t see any mention of it. I should have waited until I was home and could review it better. Ugh. Now I get to deal with Citi to cancel it.

annoying yes, but i’d rather pay 50 bucks as an AU of the prestige instead of 175 on platinum for three cards (even though they get extra perks) 50 for priority pass membership is a deal for some people.

Can’t believe they didnt have a fee disclosure that is terrible!

Yes, unless I missed it on mobile, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t. Unfortunately my dog doesn’t travel much, so he won’t find the Club access of much use! But I do get your point.

I’ve been tracking bonuses and the like for about a year now. Are these all Citi offers when it comes to authorized users? No extra sign up bonus like with Chase?

Got it on my prestige. Not sure if I’ll bite.

I got the offer on my prestige, but there’s a $50 AU fee on it, so there’s not much point unless I want to give a Priority pass account to a family member.

I have Confirmed with citi that you DONT need to spend 2K or 3K on authorized user card to trigger the statement credit. Primary user is just fine.

Also note that you dont have to give SSN to add the AU. I just used my daughter’s name who is ineligible to get a credit card on her own..

My offer came with Simplicity (apparently a card no one else in the community admits to having ;).

Anyway, I will pass because the spent is way too high. However, am happy to announce the same amount of a $50 bonus was offered with same card if I spend just $500 by 2/27/17. That one is great! 🙂
