[YMMV – Now Public] Hilton Honors Ascend 125,000 Point Bonus

US Credit Card Guide is now reporting that this is publicly available via incognito mode tricks (more details here). I personally couldn’t get it to trigger, even though other incognito mode offers showed (they usually all show if one shows). I’m not entirely convinced this offer is publicly available via incognito mode (their reader picture even shows the ‘raise your status’ that’s been shown in the targeted offer before), but it looks like one of  their readers got it to work. The Offer

Targeted offer sent via e-mail, no direct link.

  • Some people are being offered a 125,000 point bonus on the Hilton Honors Ascend card. Bonus is broken down as follows:
    • 100,000 Hilton points after $3,000 in spend within the first 3 months
    • 25,000 additional points after an additional $1,000 in spend within the first 6 months

Card Details

  • Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product or the Hilton Honors Surpass Card
  • Annual fee of $95
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 12X Hilton Honors Bonus Points at hotels and resorts in the Hilton portfolio worldwide
    • 6X Hilton Honors Bonus Points at U.S. supermarkets, U.S. restaurants, and U.S. gas stations
    • 3X Hilton Honors Bonus Points on all other eligible purchases
  • 10 free priority pass lounge passes
  • Complimentary Hilton Honors gold status. Earn Diamond status after spending $40,000 in purchases within a calendar year
  • One Weekend Night Reward at a hotel or resort in the Hilton portfolio after spending $15,000 in purchases on the card in a calendar year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Most likely not a new card vs the Surpass

Our Verdict

We saw a 125,000 point bonus on the Surpass before this card became the Ascend card, it had the exact same sign up bonus break down. Personally I wouldn’t apply for the public bonus with only a 100,000 point sign up, but this targeted 125,000 bonus might be worth it if you have a need for Hilton points. I can only see this bonus going up over time, so it might be worth waiting for an even higher bonus but I doubt we will see anything above 125,000 points for some time. As always if you have any questions regarding American Express cards, please read this post first.

DP: I’m new here and I don’t know if this dp is valuable. I opened a Hilton Aspire card and booked over $4000 cancelable hotel on Expedia and then canceled it, and I just found out I still got the 100K reward after 3 days.

For people who had applied for Surpass card for 100k bonus last year in Sep 2017 (before Surpass changed to ascend), they also had 1 free weekend night at end of 1 year card anniversary (without 15k spend requirement)

Do we know if that will be honored?

The constant devaluations have resulted in this program becoming a joke. For any decent property it takes at least 70K points per night.

That’s not really true. We booked a few nights in Prague this summer for 40-50/nt

Tried the incognito Method. But still getting the 100k points. I had the Surpass card and canceled a year ago. Can I still apply? TIA.

I used to have a surpass card and I closed it couple months ago. If I apply for the ascend card, will I get the bonus?

If you closed it before it was converted to the Ascend card, then data points suggest you can get the bonus on this one.

“I can only see this bonus going up over time, so it might be worth waiting for an even higher bonus but I doubt we will see anything above 125,000 points for some time.”

I’ve been contemplating the 75k upgrade offer but have held off so far for this reason. Any idea if the next upgrade offer might return to the 100k they offered last year?

Have the old surpass and got convert to this card. do you think it’s possile to get the sign up again if I close the card and open a new one

No. Once you have the card in your hand, you are no longer eligible for the signup bonus ever, even if you did not get it the first time.

This is why I’m kicking myself that I didn’t cancel the Surpass before it got converted to this card. I got the 125K bonus on the Surpass and could’ve gotten another one now.
