[Targeted] Ibotta: Get 10% Discount On Walmart Giftcards (Max $250 per Day)

The Offer

  • Ibotta is offering select users 10% off Walmart gift cards, up to $250 in gift cards per day.

You can find this in the Gift Cards tab in the Ibotta app.

Our Verdict

I vaguely remember seeing something about this offer a few weeks ago, but hadn’t realized that the $250 limit resets each day; can amount to a nice volume if this offer continues for a while. Not sure how widely targeted this offer is. Remember, Ibotta now only accepts debit cards for gift card purchases, so no credit card points, but still could make sense given the difficulty in getting discounts for Walmart.

Can you still purchase third party gift cards online and in-store with a walmart gift card?

Got 10% and used Paypal Key on Freedom Flex without issue. Thanks!

I have 10% on Sephora. Sephora Rouge sale of 20% starts Oct 31. So, effectively, 28% discount without using any shopping portal, and potentially more with a shopping portal.

Where is the gift card tab? When I log on to the app, I don’t see it.

Go to Account -> Gift cards -> Start earning at these retailers.

If you upload Walmart receipts to Ibotta almost every day, you won’t be targeted for this offer.

From the home page, scroll down to “Shop by category”. “Gift cards” is fourth on my list. Then I have a list of 123 retailers in that section, with Walmart showing up at #6 but you may have a different ordering.

Guess this is the same thing as Ibotta pay at Walmart where you basically buy a Walmart gc within ibotta and use that GC to pay for what you bought at Walmart store.
Only difference is the higher cashback %

Have 10% in my Ibotta app, but gives me an error every time I try to pay for it, real debit, PP Key, real debit via Google pay. Bummer, may have to try a lower amount later today or tomorrow.

I couldn’t get it to work either. Tried PPK a couple times, got a fraud alert from Chase which I OK’ed. Tried again, still won’t go through. Multiple receipts from PPK and pending/reversed transactions on my Chase card though.

Off the website.

While gift cards are accepted in-store, we do not currently accept Walmart gift cards at Walmart Pickup & Delivery.

This is a huge drawback – was going to parlay this into grocery discount, but not stepping foot in my local store.

Agreed. That’s one of the main reasons I don’t use Walmart Grocery, the lack of being able to use gift cards (even before the shutdowns). Honestly the same reason I don’t use Scan n Go at Sam’s (plus that you can’t do alcohol).

I got the 10% and used it for a $250 gift card.

Interesting data point. I just tried paypal key with ibotta and it worked. I bought an IHOP gift card using the key. My Discover card was linked to my PayPal key as default payment and it charged my discover card. Could be useful for category based credit cards that use PayPal or flat 2% cards.

Thanks for the DP, it was enough to convince me to setup my Paypal Key and try it out. Worked like a charm with BofA Premium Rewards on the back end. I thought about trying the BofA Cash Rewards for 5.25% online purchases, but decided against it.

jeph36 Does BofA cash rewards code as online purchase for Ibotta purchases?

Looks like they have stopped accepting credit cards based on another post on Doc website. Only debit cards looks like.

Since you can successfully add Paypal Key to Ibotta, you should be able to stack/double dip rewards. For example on Ibotta you could get 5% back at lowes or other select when using the pay instore gift card option which must be purchased using a debit card aka Paypal Key. Link your PPK to CF/FFF for the PayPal Q4 bonus as well.

Your Paypal key if you’ve registered for one will be recognized as a debit card with Ibotta
