Via FrugalHackMe

  • Receive a $10 bonus when you transfer $150 or more into your Serve “Reserve” account.

serve 10 credit

The Fine Print

  • Valid until March 31st, 2015
  • You need to have a balance of at least $150 on March 31st, 2015
  • $10 statement credit will be added within 30 days of completing the requirements (March 31st is the earliest this can be completed)
  • This is a targeted promotion, you probably won’t get the $10 bonus unless you received the targeted e-mail.

Our Verdict

Because you need to have $150 in your account on March 31st, 2015 I’d wait until a few days before that to transfer the money. That way you’re not missing out on any interest that you could be if you had it in a high yield account. It’ll be interesting to see if American Express decides to try and enter the high yield prepaid card market or not, they’d be competing with other cards such as Mango which offers a 6% interest rate.

In the past even if you didn’t receive the promotional e-mail you still got the bonus, I don’t think this will be the case in this instance. Some people got an e-mail letting them know about Serve Reserve, without the bonus. It’s still possible you will receive the bonus if you didn’t get the e-mail, but I doubt it.

Also keep in mind there is another targeted bonus for $20 if you deposit your tax refund into your Serve account.

The $10 bonus is yet to hit, and it’s been more than 30 days past the cutoff date. Curious if anybody else received the bonus yet…

Were you targeted? I believe those who were targeted got it.
