The Fine Print
- Offer valid for referred individuals who do not currently have a TD Ameritrade account and who open a new (Individual, Joint, or IRA) TD Ameritrade account and make a qualifying net deposit with $25,000 or more within 45 days of enrolling in the offer.
- To receive $100 bonus, account must be funded with $25,000-$49,999. To receive $300 bonus, account must be funded with $50,000-$99,999. To receive $500 bonus, account must be funded with $100,000-$499,999. To receive $1,000 bonus, account must be funded with $500,000 or more.
- Offer is not valid on tax-exempt trusts, 401k accounts, Keogh plans, Profit Sharing Plan, or Money Purchase Plan. Our Verdict
Looks like the previous offer of up to $2,500 has expired, and this $1,000 deal is the new offer going forward. The tiers with the new offer are overall much better than the previous offer was. Those looking to deposit $1M+ might be disappointed in the new offer due to lack of the highest tiers.
While this offer is called a ‘referral offer’, far as I can tell you just need to use the landing page which prepopulates the promo code (NC1000) to get this offer. Remember, you need to retain the balance for at least 12 months (minus any losses/gains).

Can anyone confirm who opened the td ameritrade for bonus and then transferred to Schwab (as part of transition) and are within 1 year period of holding assets, can move the funds out of schwab without bonus forfeit or 1 year holding period is still applicable?
Yes, I dared to do it and they didn’t deduct anything. Granted all I had was securities.

Does the bonus need to stay in the account or can it be withdrawn anytime and keep the transferred funds/securities in the account?

I got it last year as a Schwab customer and even transferred in from Schwab.
Got an email saying TD Ameritrade accounts will be migrated to Schwab in 2 months. I wonder if Schwab will “forget” TD Ameritrade’s holding requirement?
Looks like TD Ameritrade will not charge any outbound transfer fees between now and 90 days after the account is moved to Schwab. Great for transferring to another brokerage who do not reimburse transfer fees!
