The Offer
- Take the ACU of Texas Challenge and receive a $100 bonus. Requirements:
- Become a member or be a member of ACU of Texas.1
- Open or have any ACU of Texas Checking Account and a Real Rewards VISA Debit Card.
- Complete the Financial Questionnaire.
- Possibly have a brief discussion concerning money saving products. (not actually required)
- Receive $100 in your ACU Checking Account in 12 business days.
The Fine Print
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- To receive the $100 incentive: 1) open (or have) a required savings account with minimum balance of $1.00
- 2) Open any new (or currently have an) ACU of Texas checking account (excluding Student Checking), subject to approval; 3) sign up for and activate a Real Rewards VISA debit card. AND 4) complete Financial Questionnaire at account opening.
- $100.00 incentive deposit will be made within 12 business days of completing all required steps.
- Incentive cannot be used as the opening deposit.
- Incentive is considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT.
- Account Closing: If your checking account is closed within six months after the opening date, we will deduct the incentive amount at closing.
- Student Checking Accounts are not eligible.
- Current ACU Checking Account Holders are invited to Take the ACU Challenge and get $100 by completing the Financial Questionnaire with credit report review.
- Employees of ACU of Texas or its subsidiary companies are not eligible. Offer subject to change at any time.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
They offer a free checking account that doesn’t have any monthly minimums. You need to keep the account open for six months otherwise you’ll forfeit the bonus.
Our Verdict
Easy bonus requirements and easy to keep the account fee free. Fingers crossed you don’t have to go in branch to do the questionaire, but looks like you need to live near a branch to be eligible anyway. If anybody signs up and finds out if it’s a hard/soft pull then let us know in the comments below. If it is then we will most likely add it to our list of checking account promos.

Looks like it may be a hard pull just based of that fact that current customers can get the bonus to, but subject to a credit check. Just my thoughts, hope others will let me know.
Tried to do this offer, but was already thwarted by step 1 when they required an in-branch visit to become a member of ACUT. Terribly inconvenient locations for most Houstonians–most of their branches seem to be concentrated around League City.
