U.S. Bank has quietly launched an ‘offers’ section with cash back on purchases at select retailers, similar to what we see from Chase Offers and Bank Amerideals. It shares the same back end as the other banks with Cardlytics running the program, and the offers all look familiar from those we see with other banks.
Presumably the offer is linked to all of your cards, debit and credit, and whichever one you use will use up the offer. (Chase Offers works different with each offer being linked to a specific card, but with US Bank it’s not clear which card is linked, and I assume it’s like Bank Amerideals where you just get it once across all of your credit and debit cards.)
We’ve added this to our post What Credit Card Offer Portals Share The Same Back End?
Hat tip to my friend Jamie
I am seeing this with my debit account. The offers vary. P1 has 16 offers, P2 has 15 offers. Between the two, 5 overlap. Most are crap, but there are a few quality ones. P1 has 10% (max $23) to IKEA, 20% (max $6) to Kindle Unlimited, 10% ($32 max) to Best Western. P2 has 10% (max $10) to Ulta, 10% (max $3) to Shake Shack, and 10% (max $3) to Lyft. All of my offers have expiration dates in the next month (most end in May). So, we shall see what we get in June.
I don’t have a US Bank credit card, so I would be using a debit card here. Considering I have the Bank of America credit card set to 3% (technically 3.3% with the 10% checking account relationship bonus), these 10% offers are more like 7% since I’d get the 3% with the BOA card.
Looking at the Cash+ card categories, I’m not sure any of these would be in a category I’d choose as a 5% category (e.g. for Lyft you’d need to select transportation. For Shake Shack you’d need to select fast food). And unless they fall in the 2% categories, you are getting 1%. So again, considering the BOA cash back, it is more like 8% when you use a US Bank credit card.
I followed the instructions by adding the offer and then swiping the credit card. It says that I can use any debit/credit card for the cashback offer but I did not receive any of my offers even though i spend it before. The last one was the 15th and the offer expired on the 17th and it was with Chevron gas. I call the representatives who doesn’t seem to know or have any knowledge about it.
I still do not have access to these offers and have the new interface, personal checking, personal credit cards, and business credit card linked to profile. I wonder if the business card is why I am not seeing these offers or if it is still possibly in pilot phase with select customers. Would call usbank customer service but from the sounds of it they know less about these offers then this here on doc. So will just wait it out to see if they are ever adde
I used to see it and now i don’t see it either.
This occurred to me when i signed up for a business checking account
I would not do those cash back deals with US Bank. They are clueless. I did AT&T offer, and cash back did not show up. I called, and no rep had idea about this new feature and was confused. I was transferred back and forth among different reps. By the end, one rep said she wrote down everything for investigation. Next day, another rep told me that a letter was sent to me requesting me to provide the details of the offer. I have not seen the letter but surely would never do this again with them.
Based on the call with USbank Reps,it seems you are 100% correct,if it doesn’t credit we are stuck
The same experience for me. I also did the AT&T offer in November 2021, and the cash back was not applied. I am still in talk with US Bank, and no representative knows what “cash back deal” is. And after two months of calls, I think I will just give up and swallow the cost.
Anyone with multiple cards ,how does this work.Any Data points
Strange, the offers are more or less the same for across Chase and US Bank.
Why is it strange? The same company is obviously running both programs, just as they do Bank of America’s program.
Thanks for sharing, it is indeed showing up for me. A good practical one for me is get $35 at AT&T on 2 spends of $17.5 or more – same as Bank Amerideals I had late last year.
nice to see the offers although most are kind of lame ($2 for A&W root beer restaurant…?)
Can anyone elaborate on where this shows up in the app?
It’s on the home page of the app. Scroll down past your accounts/balances.
John
I don’t have it in the app or website. Does yours also show on the website?
Bottom right where it says see all deals
Noticed it last week in the app
