U.S. Bank Radisson Rewards Cards To Be Converted To Other U.S. Bank Cards

In February we posted that U.S. Bank was no longer taking applications for the Radisson Rewards cards. We weren’t sure what would happen to these cards and if this product was being discontinued. U.S. Bank has sent out a letter to cardholders stating:

This letter is to inform you of important changes to your account. The Radisson Rewards Visa Card Program will end and be transitioned to a new card in May 2022…

It’s unclear if Radisson will partner with another card issuer.

They had previously told me that I can switch to cash+ Visa card from Altitude but I must wait until I receive the Altitide card. When I called to switch, they said they are not allowing conversions to other products. I’m so pissed. Will cancel this useless card. They had inundated me with pre-approval offers for the cash+ card last year but then rejected me and wouldn’t tell me why.

I phoned U S Bank yesterday to close the account since it is changing to cash rebate. The agent stated that I would lose ALL of my Radisson points if I close the account even though the card no longer earns Radisson points!

The agent was COMPLETELY wrong. EVEN IF you had closed it back when it did still earn Radisson points, the only Radisson points you would have lost were any points that HADN’T YET been transferred to Radisson. Points that had already been transferred to Radisson can’t be affected by a Radisson card closure.

LOTS of bank agents at different banks are known for making this mistaken claim about all sorts of hotel and airline cards, all of the time. It’s not unique to US Bank or to this card. They’re familiar with how it works with bank’s own points, and mistakenly assume that it works the same with an external partner’s points, but it doesn’t.

FYI – AF charged in April, points usually post in June but they posted in May this year (on P1/2/3). So looks like they’re doing right and giving us one last year of nearly-free points after the AF prorated refund.
The new card info packets don’t mention any SUB unfortunately. If anyone hears/sees otherwise please reply.

Yesterday, I Asked by text when I will get my pro-rated annual fee reimbursed. They replied I will not get any reimbursement as I received points for the renewal. Paid the annual fee 12/21/2021

I don’t think it’s correct. The letter says it will be credited back on pro-rated basis going back 12 months. I’d just way for the actual transition to happen first.

Will this conversion count as a new account on our credit reports? Would it affect Chase 5/24?

Keeping same card number so should be safe.

Does this change mean that the only way to get Radisson Reward points is to stay at the hotel or use partner companies? To be clear – will there no longer be ability to earn points through general credit card use??

I never opted to get the fee based Radisson Awards Visa card because there was a no fee version that still permitted you to get the 2nd award night for free when that was a feature of both cards. Since then, I have occasionally put spend on the card to continue the longevity of my account. However, today, unlike the announcements for the fee based cards, I have received notice from US Bank that seemingly implies that the card will continue to be valid and will not be converted. “Radisson Rewards Visa Card from U.S. Bank [email protected] To XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX U.S. Bank – Radisson Rewards Visa® Card Radisson Rewards Visa Card xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Radisson Rewards #: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX | Card ending in: XXXX | Cardmember since: 2014 ExtendPay Plan video – click to view Limited-time offer! How to find when the points posted last year. I tried to look at the statements on Raddison rewards website, but could not find any activity.

Are you sure you received it last year? This happened to me 2 years ago when US bank decidedly to just change my Radisson rewards number on their end.

Make sure you go to the Radisson Americas website as they split them up a few months ago.

Actually, if I look very closely, when I redraw the activity statement screen (on the Radisson Americas website), I see the activity draw but then immediately erase. By forcing a redraw multiple times after scrolling, I can see different bits of it, but it’s very tricky to look for something on the list that way.

Also, it’ll be on the statement where it posted. And your statements from the last year should be visible on the US Bank website (though you’ll have to look at them one by one if you have no idea when it was).

My annual fee will be charged on 4/17, will I receive the 40K rewards? I would like to cancel the card if not

Per the letter, the anniversary bonus will be discontinued at the end of April. It’s unclear what that means exactly, but my guess is that they won’t post any more bonuses after that date.

If your AF posts on 4/17, I don’t think your points will post by 4/30 (mine posted in mid-March, 1 1/2 months after the AF posted).

historically this card does not post bonus UNTIL A month AFTER the AF is paid. So I dont think you would receive it.

The letter says: “The Radisson Rewards Visa Card Annual Renewal Bonus provided with payment of your annual fee will be discontinued on April 30, 2022.” To me “Bonus provided with payment of your annual fee” means that you should get the points. It’s not the customer’s fault that they usually choose to wait months before giving you the bonus. You earned it when you paid the fee. I see a clear law suit if you paid the fee by April 30th, and don’t get the points.
