United MPE (& Business) Sign-up Bonus Increased to 50k Miles. Possibility of 70k Targeted.

The Offer

Public

This offer used to be 30,000 Bonus Miles for $1,000 in spend.

  • 50,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. This is public. Direct link to offer.
  • 50,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. Plus, earn a $50 Statement Credit after your first purchase. This is technically public but the link is only shown when you go to book a flight on United. Direct link to offernote that the banner ad has not yet been updated, so if you go to book a flight, you will see an add for 30k + $50 statement credit. if you click on it, it should actually take you to 50k + $50 statement credit.

Business

I believe the first link has been standard for a while now, but it is included for completeness.

  • 50,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. Annual fee waived first year. This is public. Direct link to offer. It is also on Chase’s website.
  • 50,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. Annual fee waived first year. Plus, earn a $50 Statement Credit after your first purchase. This is technically public, but I believe the link is only supposed to be shown when you go to book a flight on United. Direct link to offer.

Targeted

All of these offers are targeted and require you to log in to your United account to proceed. They are highly YMMV. Also note that these links are not absolute: targeted mailers will give you a specific URL (such as unitedexplorercard.com/miles1) that will require you to log in to see the page. While these links may not work for you, you could still be targeted by one of those unitedexplorercard.com URLs — so keep an eye out for mail! Be sure to pay attention to the terms: if you aren’t targeted for any of these offers, you’ll likely be redirected to the standard public offer that does not have an annual fee waiver (so don’t assume that your annual fee is waived just because you pull up a 50,000 mile offer).

  • 50,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. Annual fee waived. This is a standard targeted offer usually available by mail. Direct link to offer.
  • 50,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. Plus, earn a $50 Statement Credit after your first purchase. Annual fee waived. This is also a standard targeted offer usually available by mail. Direct link to offer.
  • 70,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. This is a targeted offer that has appeared in the past. Direct link to offer.
  • 70,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. Plus, earn a $50 Statement Credit after your first purchase. This is a targeted offer that has appeared in the past. Direct link to offer.

Card Details

  • $95 annual fee (waived for the first year only for the two targeted 50k links and the business card links)
  • Free first checked bag
  • Priority boarding
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • 2 United Club one-time passes each year for your Cardmember anniversary
  • 50,000 to 70,000 bonus miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open
  • 5,000 bonus miles after you add the first authorized user and make your first purchase in the first 3 months from account opening*
  • 10,000 bonus miles after you spend $25,000 on purchases on your Card each calendar year
  • Earn 2 miles per $1 spent on tickets purchased from United**
  • Earn 1 mile per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Miles don’t expire as long as your credit card account remains open
  • Is under 5/24, which you can read about here

* there is no 5,000 mile bonus for the business card, since you are adding employees not authorized users.

** in addition, the business card earns 2 miles for each $1 spent on purchases at restaurants, gas stations, and office supply stores.

Our Verdict

We’ve covered the various United offers a number of times, including the last 70k miles offer — which, like this offer, was the highest ever. If you’re lucky enough to be targeted for the 70k offer and are looking for United miles, there are very few better signup bonuses. If you’ve recently signed up for a 50k offer, it couldn’t hurt to SM Chase and ask them to match, but the prospects of being matched are probably not very good — as Will noted in the last 70k miles post, Chase can be very peculiar about matching.

As far as I am aware, all of these offers, including any targeted offers you get in the mail, are subject to 5/24.

If you’re considering applying for this card, you’ll definitely want to review the things everybody should know about Chase credit cards first.

damn you 5/24…

You can apply via a dummy United booking to get the same offer PLUS the $50 statement credit after first purchase.

When applying for the business card, does the 5/25 rule factor in your personal cards??

Got the 70k + 5k + $50 offer.. but no use due to 5/24 🙁

On my laptop, I clicked all those links and was redirected to the standard, public 50,000 point /annual fee not waived offer. On mobile, I clicked all the links and was redirected to the United homepage.

Got the 70k offer plus bonus but 5/24 makes it a NO GO.

has anyone checked in branch? i am targeted for 70k+5k but way over 5/24… thanks.

I got the 50k offer, but it’s only been ~18months since I last got this bonus…so I doubt I’d be eligible. Plus, I’m way over 5/24 anyway.

Got the 70K+5K and $50 bonus. At 3/24. Got an Ink card 3 weeks ago so waiting for 30 days to apply for this and CSP. Been waiting for this. Thanks!

FYI– I tried your links and they al redirected to the public 50K offer. I logged onto my MileagePlus account and see an offer for 70K.

I received mileage plus bonus offer (30K miles) more than 2 years ago and downgraded the card to no-fee united mileage plus account.
My question is do I have to close the no-fee card to be able to get the bonus again? or am I still eligible with the no-fee card still open (its been more than 2 years since I received the bonus; so I am eligible?)

No, still eligible.

Does the Chase Private Client approach work with this promotion (to bypass 5/24)?

My offer is 50K bonus miles but the annual fee is NOT waived. Same here and when logging into my United account.

Anyone know if you can do the public 50k with $50 statement+95 annual fee and then SM chase to get it match to the target 70k. I know with the old public 30k wit $50 statement +annual fee waived, chase will match the targeted 50k.

If you decide to pursue this be sure to read your offer very carefully and do not assume anything. After I clicked through and saw only the 50K offer (not the 70K) I looked through the pricing and details, discovered the annual fee is NOT waived. Triple-checked, and no fee waiver the first year.
