- United is offering a 20% discount on award flights to Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean. Travel must be August 20th until December 13th, 2018. You must book by August 10th.
The Fine Print
- The discounted Saver Award is only valid for roundtrip travel between the United States (excluding Hawaii) or Canada and the following Caribbean cities: Aguadilla (BQN), Havana (HAV), Port of Spain (POS), Santo Domingo (SDQ), San Juan (SJU) and Santiago de los Caballeros (STI)
- This offer for discounted Saver Awards is available to United Explorer Cardmembers and United MileagePlus Club Cardmembers.
- Saver award discount is only valid for air travel.
- Tickets must be booked no later than 11:59 p.m. CDT on August 10, 2018.
- Offer is valid for travel beginning on or after August 20, 2018, and completed on or before December 13, 2018.
- Offer is valid for travel on all days of the week.
Our Verdict
This is becoming a frequent offer, at least on flights to Hawaii. They offered a similar deal earlier this year and in November last year as well. In terms of cheaper options, at least for Hawaii some options include: Singapore KrisFlyer miles would cost 35,000 miles round trip, Korean is 30,000 miles round trip on Hawaiian & 25,000 on Delta. Not sure about cheaper options to Mexico/Caribbean but I’m sure they exist.
