Previously Chase were not allowing United to offer credit cards to customers on board United flights. United flagged that this would be changed in a recent earnings call and it seems they have already started to promote the card in flight. Reddit user IvanXQZ reported receiving a pack of mints (that apparently weren’t very tasty) and the following offer:
- 50,000 miles after $3,000 in spend within the first three months
- $50 after first purchase
The offer is marked as an inflight exclusive, but you still can’t actually apply in flight and you’re instead redirected to the following landing page: https://unitedexplorercard.com/5050 and the offer is open to anybody.
That’s better than the public offer for 50,000 miles but not on the same level as the widely targeted offer for 70,000 miles + $50. I’m really more interested in when it becomes possible to actually apply for these cards inflight, as there is some evidence to suggest that this might bypass the 5/24 rule. Note: This current link does not work to bypass 5/24.
