Applied online, unable to verify identity. Support said to go in-branch
2/23: Online application approved in-branch, required a manager override. In-branch approval used all the info in the online application, including funding 5k on Chase IHG Business as a purchase.

Opened WECU checking account on 10/31 (the one with the monthly fees and higher bonus). 11/1 $101 Sofi push (coded as “ACH Deposit- Transfer), 11/6 $501.27 Wise Transfer (coded as “ACH Deposit Wise Inc- Payroll from (my name) via WISE”), 11/10 $201.28 Ally Push (coded as “ACH Deposit (my name) M2M P2P”), another 201.28 Ally Push on 12/8. Never received any monthly fees. 12/31 $250 WECU Welcome Bonus received. I am not sure which triggered the bonus or if they all counted.

Account opened on 10/30/23
Bonus received on 12/30/23
Messaged and chatted to switch account to spend free but were asked to call. I was thinking maybe I should just close it since they require calls for everything. Anyone close it right after receiving bonus?

DP: Funded $5k with CitiBusiness AAdvantage card, posted as a purchase. There’s no explicit credit card option but I selected the debit card option and had set the cash advance limit to $100 on the card.

just chatted with WECU, said that if you have any existing account or membership it is a soft pull, otherwise its a hard pull.

It looks like this card no longer allows credit card funding – during the application process, it only gives me 3 options: bank login, use a bank account manually, and use a debit card. Has anyone successfully funded with a credit card, am I missing something?

Tried choosing the debit card option and actually entering my Venture X credit card number, it looks like it’s letting me submit but I have not out of fear it might be coded as a cash advance. Has anyone tried this?

Were you able to try this?
Can lower your VX Cash Advance limit to avoid it going through if Cash Advance.

Nope. Called Capital One customer service, they said there’s no way to disable cash advance or set the limit on the Venture X, and I’m too risk averse to try it

I had an accidental cash advance with Venture X while traveling. Called Capital One to see if I could reduce or remove the cash advance limit and was told the same thing as you. However, they also said that it can only be a cash advance if the transaction is done in person because the merchant can select to run as debit. Whereas an online transaction will always run it as credit. Not sure if that’s how it works, but that’s what they said…
