The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Walmart has BinaxNOW COVID‐19 Antigen Self Test (2 Count) For $19.88

The Fine Print

  • Limit 6 (12 total tests)

Our Verdict

Cheaper than the Amazon tests, but different brands. Stock is YMMV by area unfortunately and seems to be going in and out of stock as well.  Try to keep the comments on discussing the actual test or the pricing, rather than your opinion on the pandemic.

I was told inflation but not this fast. 14 last week and 19.88 now?

$14 was only promised until end of 2021 from the Biden administration. Also with this current $12 rebate on covid tests it made sense for them to jack up the price to compensate it for it.

I feel fine, but a guy down the hall in my apartment (not a roommate) tested positive for COVID 19 3 days ago. He is not sick and has no symptoms. He said he only found out because his sister’s fiance’s tested positive for COVID on 12/31 with very mild symptoms. His sister got sick but did not test positive, the local authorities recommended he get tested because they visited with each other during this time. Question: Should I go wait in line at the local testing center to see if I am sick or would you go to emergency room and wait to get in? This doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t have time for the mailed test and I’m feeling fine. WOW…

Not a doctor and not medical advice. Did you have any contact with this guy? Or any other person who tested positive? If not, then no need to spend precious time, take up resources and potentially expose yourself (if congregating with others while waiting).

I don’t quite understand. There are a gazillion people sick with COVID now. Did you have any exposure to him? Why are you concerned?
What you should do is get vaccinated if you are not. There is no reason to get tested unless you spent time with this guy or are showing symptoms.

Don’t go to the ER. This is not a medical emergency and you will both take up precious resources AND be billed for ER costs. This is an urgent care type of situation.

Thanks for the feedback. The health department recommended me to test just because we live in same building. It almost seems like a joke.

That doesn’t makes sense. If everyone got tested because someone in their building got covid it would overun the healthcare system in days. If I’m reading this right you didn’t have any contact with the sick person. What you should do is self quarantine. I think (you can look it up to be sure) that you will start to have systems in 5 days after exposure. A little precaution isn’t a bad thing.

Definitely not ER. You are not in a life threatening situation and dont want to waste resources treating something that is not serious not to mention the hospital bill you would get. I think it would be a good idea to get tested just in case. Even if you don’t get in contact with him i think it is wise for your own sake to get tested just in case you see family that might not be protected.

I still see $14. Ordered 3x shipped with my FSA card.

Something something politics, something something conspiracy theory, something something locked comments.

Let’s see. I’ve been vaccinated 3 times. 1+1+booster. I still need to be tested??? We’d avoid all this if everyone would get vaccinated and quit being so political about this.

Yes, because breakthrough cases and asymptomatic spread are things.

I guess you missed the part of the post that said keep the discussions to the test itself or pricing?

wife tested positive with rapid PCR but same day tested negative with binaxnow… ( I had her use it just to verify it if a good test)…so I lost confidence in them

How can they test for sumthing which was never isolated? Keep the scamdemic going, globalists, right?

We use the Zelenko protocol for prevention and weren’t sick since years.

Some see this as a feature, not a bug: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7003e3.htm . That is, the binax tests are supposed to be great at not giving you false positives, while being less likely to give you a “true positive” (as measured by a PCR_ at times when you are not (or less likely to be) infectious. As more and more folks have antibodies from vaccines and/or prior infections, and insofar as the omicron version appears less dangerous but is also measles-easy to spread, there may be an advantage to a test that focuses on risk of infection, not presence of an increasingly less dangerous virus (again, assuming vaccination or previous infection).

Lost confidence in who? Who is them? The BinaxNow and PCR tests are 2 very different tests – their accuracy also differs

You can’t compare a PCR test to an antigen test. You can test positive on a PCR test for weeks, including before and long after you’re contagious. Meanwhile, you are likely to only test positive on an antigen test for the 5-or-so-day-period during which you have a high enough viral load to be contagious. (Numbers are examples for illustration purposes and may vary.)

$19.88, must have raised their price for 2022

Apparently the White House had a deal in place to keep the price at $14 and the deal expired this week so the prices went up (source: trust me bro). Sorry I heard this from someone but I haven’t been able to verify this

Even if it allows you to add it to cart, but says sold out when you actually check out, keep trying to check out. Took me like 5-10 tries to actually checkout.
