Reader Seth and Knights123 just received a check for $212 from Wells Fargo for a $200 bank bonus from a few years back which was never paid out. I don’t recall the details of the story, but keep an eye out if you were missing a bonus from way back. The extra $12 is interest for the delay of payment.
Did anyone else get a 1099-INT for $12? I called the number on the form and they don’t even have a record of mailing me that tax form.
Not as much as $212, but I got a random $5 bonus. “Promotional Bonus for making a Mobile Deposit”. I just opened this acct about a month or 2 ago so that I can get the $200 bonus. I had 2 prev accts. Maybe it’s for 1 of those accts.

Hmm. I completed an offer about 3 years ago, P1, P2, P3, never got bonuses after the stated time plus a month. Closed P1 & P3 since I didn’t complete the terms to the absolute letter, but P2 procrastinated and actually got paid a week later. Fingers crossed, but I doubt it’s related to this, so not getting my hopes up.
Got the same check in March this year, funny that the $12 interest remained the same. The thing is I did receive the bonus back in 2019… I think I had to contact them because the banker messed up the promo code on my application when I opened in branch. Not sure if I received a 1099 though.

The IRS pays 3% annually on delayed refunds these days.
Didn’t get the 200$ but they did just send me a 50$ check today for a legal settlement from the cfpb addressing the banks sales practices (unauthorized accounts and services) lol ill take it I guess it will get groceries for the week haha i wanted that 200$ tho.
