The Offer
- Westbury Bank is offering a $100 bonus when you open an IDEAL Rewards Checking account. Bonus posts the next statement after it’s been 90 days from account opening. You must also receive a recurring direct deposit of at least $100.
- Customer must provide a government issued military identification card as proof of active duty, retired, National Guard or Reserve member, or veteran of the military
The Fine Print
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
This account has no monthly fees to worry about. I’m not sure about any early account termination fees.
Our Verdict
The 1.1% APY rate isn’t attractive as there are lots of better options available. $100 bonus might be OK depending on whether it’s a hard/soft pull to open and what counts as a direct deposit. As always please share your data points.
