Our Verdict
Technically these are targeted but in the past as long as it accepted the promo code you’d get the bonus (although if you’ve used a similar code in the past you won’t get the credit). Last time we saw a similar bonus was in 2018.
I was targeted for PROMO5, so this looks live again. Looks like it ends 3/31/21.
I tried PROMO10 and PROMO15, which did not work.
Loaded a check and waiting for approval.
Was targeted for PROMO5, and not working for me either. Could be because of previously getting the promo multiple times years ago.
Was targeted for PROMO5, and not working for me either.
Not working for me, and I was explicitly targeted through the app for “PROMO5” – not accepting any of the three codes.
These promos are a hit or miss and customer service virtually non-existing / cannot help
same here.
Yes – I couldn’t activate the check cashing feature and customer support was useless. Not worth the $10
I was able to do this last year on the Netspend card using a cashier’s check from a major bank (remainder of funds at acct closure); however, I was not able to a few months ago on either AceElite or Netspend using the credit union equivalent to a cashier’s check (even though it was drawn from CU same as a cashier’s check), nor could I write a check to myself.
Hell, they wouldn’t even accept a personal check from my grandmother! Those bastards.
So I think only government or payroll checks really work 100% of the time.
I tried doing this a few months ago w a personal check from one of my other bank accts and they wouldn’t accept it.
I tried doing a similar offer a few years ago, but Ingo said they couldn’t verify my identity (even though Netspend had already verified me), so they wouldn’t let me do a check deposit.
yes that’s what I had. Waste of time and no follow up from them as promised.
I did all 3 promo codes a couple of years ago, and they banned me from using the check cashing service in the future, but did not claw back the bonuses. (It’s Ingo) Not sure if matters that I used checks written to myself or not. Not like I needed that service, but might be important to some people. Ingo is also used by Oxygen, Rushcard, likely other hybrid banking apps.
I also suspect that may be why Privacy.com won’t give me an account, but I have no proof – I just can’t think of any other possible companies that don’t want my business that would associate with Privacy. Privacy won’t tell me jack.
So I’m also banned by Ingo for same reason.
I do have a Privacy account, but have had it for several years, so maybe that would be the reason our situations are different.
I guess Ingo Money bans fairly frequently since I am also banned from their services. When I emailed them to know why, they never got back to me. I did not write any checks to myself. I had only ever submitted one check through their services successfully, but was never able to submit another check after that. There are 3 people in my household and 2 of us are banned from Ingo, so I thought maybe it was because their services were 1 per household, though it doesn’t say that anywhere.
My mom was banned from Privacy because they said that she used her card at a fraudulent site (enjeo/roadsavetoday). She just ended up opening a new account to use.
“My mom was banned from Privacy because they said that she used her card at a fraudulent site”
Huh, that’s lame. Blaming the victim and defeating part of the point of their service.
