[Expired][YMMV] American Express Business Gold Rewards: 50,000 Points Bonus For EXISTING CUSTOMERS

This deal has expired and is no longer available. View the best credit card bonuses here.

Reposting as American Express just sent out an e-mail regarding this offer. No need to enroll, as long as you received the e-mail you are eligible.

The Offer

No direct link, check your e-mails. Subject line is ‘Earn 50,000 additional points with your Business Gold Rewards Card’

  • American Express is offering existing business premier rewards gold cardholders a bonus of up to 50,000 points. Bonus is broken down as follows:
    • 50,000 Membership Rewards points after $5,000 in spend
  • Spend from July 15th until October 15th qualifies for the $5,000 required

Our Verdict

This is even better than the 50,000 spending offer on the Platinum card. Works out to be an extra 10x points per $1 spent which is fantastic, basically another sign up bonus on this card for existing users. Glad to see this bonus is now official, fingers crossed you got the e-mail and also fingers crossed we see similar offers on more cards!

So, I got this offer, made the spend in two days, and immediately got the bonus. Then today I got an email saying “To help you get the most out of your membership with American Express OPEN®, we’d like to remind you that we’ve enrolled you in a special offer on your Card as of July 15th” with the same 50,000 MR language. My question is if anyone has ever received a bonus like this twice.

I received the promo in snail mail today but I have two BGR’s and don’t know which one it applies to! There was no card referenced on the mailer and i doubt it applies to both…

I received this offer in the mail Thursday night. I tried online chat to confirm but they couldn’t help so I called the membership rewards and after providing the offer code that I found on the bottom of the offer email, they were able to confirm it and I have them noted on my account. Let’s hope after 5K spend I see the bonus points on my account.

I called AMEX today (Friday, 7/28/17) to open a small business card. I had my heart set on getting the Blue Businessâ„  Plus Card and tried negotiating for the 20K spend bonus but to no avail. I did end up applying + getting approved for the Business Gold Card with an increased spend bonus: 75,000 MR after $10,000 qualifiying spending in 3 months).

Two points worth mentioning:

1) I half-jokingly asked about an increased spend bonus – 75,000 instead of the current 50,000 promo. Without even hesitating, the AMEX rep said, “Sure, we can make the offer available for you.” I didn’t even have to submit a screenshot or proof of a targeted ad for the increased spend bonus. Seems like the official line is that as long as you’ve seen said promotion, new cardmembers were entitled to request it (expiry date be damned) just as long as you’re willing to meet the additional spend requirement.

Past BGC promos were set at 75,000 / $5,000 / 3 months but this offer seems pegged at $10K spend. On the face of it, spending an additional 2x the required for exactly 1/2 the return sounds silly. If anyone has tips/experience here, please do share. I’ll probably try asking again in a few weeks if it’s possible to earn 100K though 2x spend.

2) I applied for the Business Gold Card using my SSN since my fledgling startup hasn’t yet been in corporated (no EIN). The AMEX agent clarified that it wasn’t possible to change the business classification (i.e. from sole proprietorship to LLC, Inc.) after application + approval. The simple action then is to just cancel the existing account + reapply with the updated credentials. If I’m not mistaken, this seems like a permissible path to dip twice into AMEX’s card enrollment bonus pool.

Anyway, that’s my sign up story for today. Please share any tips/luck you’ve had with the AMEX business cards, especially regarding Blue Business Preferred application tips/extended sign up referrals. Cheers.

I took a screen shot of it on my AmEx Offers. It has disappeared, and I didn’t receive an e-mail.

Wonder how YMMV about calling into a manager and asking about this. I may experiment if I get the courage. Will report back if so.

(No email, if you didn’t catch that)

No email. Bummer. This would have been enough to make me keep the card for another year.
