Our Verdict

This is the first time American Express has ever offered a transfer bonus to Asia miles. They do have two other current transfer bonuses:

As always you can view a full list of current and past transfer bonuses here. How useful this deal is will depend on what variation of the offer you have and how much you value Asia miles. Feel free to share some of the better redemption options for Cathay Pacific in the comments.

Yesterday transferred around 138 k American Express MR pts to get 180k Asia miles (I have 30% bonus). Today, in my MR account, the 30% transfer bonus offer disappeared. So is this a one-time offer?

I got the 1.3 additional, maybe because I transferred a large amount of MR to asiamiles before. So far we only needed to dip into my MR account for travel.

When I checked my wife’s account and she doesn’t have the promotional 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 but we never transferred her MR’s to asiamiles before. I’ll try transferring 1k and maybe next time the promotion will appear, if that doesn’t work maybe because I have the platinum. Also all our loyalty number were registered when we activated so I don’t think that would be part of their criteria.

I got the personal plat, and the everyday while she got the BGR and BBP

Thanks. I never would have checked. I got the 1:1.3. I love their miles at this transfer rate despite their recent devaluation.

I’m shocked you didn’t know there was a difference, considering you have their credit card.
