Our Verdict
We saw a recent promotion for a 50% transfer bonus. American Express Membership Rewards points are far more valuable than Marriott points, so I really don’t think anybody should be remotely considering this transfer. I guess if you just need a small amount of points to hit a certain redemption it might make sense but I’ve said before even if it was a 1:3 transfer bonus I wouldn’t transfer. Apart from that recent 50% transfer bonuses we haven’t seen any other Marriott transfer bonuses but it was fairly common to see 50% transfer bonuses to SPG:
- October 23 – November 17th, 2016: 50% bonus
- October 12th – October 31st, 2015: 50% bonus
- October 16th – November 30th, 2014: 50% bonus

“I’ve said before even if it was a 1:3 transfer bonus I wouldn’t transfer”
…But you can transfer Marriott points at a 3:1 ratio to way, way more airlines, right? And you get a 25% bonus if you transfer 60k increments.
I would transfer Amex -> Marriott at a 1:3 ratio all day long.
Where can you find the expiration date on these offers? Have one for BA as well cant seem to find out when its good till.

This ^^. Bonvoy should be 1:2 standard and Hilton should be 1:3 considering how their base card earn on non bonus purchase.
WIth Marriott 1:1.1 transfer ratio to United this is essentially opens up for Amex MR to United transfer ratio of 1.43… not that bad. You can do one way to Europe with 21K MRs.

Sorry but you’re wrong. Marriott does not transfer 1:1.1 to UA. Marriott transfers 3:1.1 to UA, but if you transfer in exact increments of 60k points your transfer ratio gets bumped up to 6:2.75, almost 2:1.
If you need a small amount, cash maybe a better move – unless you have tons of MR and no FF transfer plans ~
off sale – Bonvoy points are $12.50/1K
AFIK none of the the INK cards are 3X or 5x at Points . com which is the portal that Marriott uses.
You can also transfer 1:1 UA ~ Marriott upto 50K per year. (or UR -> UA -> SPG (Bonvoy)
If you have a ton of MR points the smart thing to do is cash them out with Schwab, not transfer them to useless Marriott
Man I can work chase points pretty good but I seriously have no idea how to work my Amex points. I need to start researching that I guess.
I’ve had the same problem. Love Chase UR with Hyatt and SW and 1.5x for travel with the Chase portal for CSR.
