Our Verdict

Honestly this deal isn’t great, we’ve seen offers of 75,000 miles + $50 recently. Also keep in mind that the Chase 5/24 rule applies to this card, if you’re under 5/24, then there are probably better Chase cards to focus on (e.g Chase Sapphire Reserve).

Called to get my previous 30k offer matched to 50k. I missed the 90-day window by 2 days! Argh.

The annual fee is waived in my offer for the first year, the bonus is the 50,000 after 2,000 spend in 3 months and 5,000 when an AU makes their first purchase.

I’m looking at dipping my toes into these offers for the first time to do some domestic air travel next year. I want to wait on United since the bonus has been so much higher recently but I have a 50,000 mile bonus after 3,000 spend on an American Airlines Citi Platinum Select offer I got in the mail. I’m thinking of doing that one as the bonus looks pretty close to the high end of what’s usually offered by American. Thoughts appreciated!

Same here. 50,000 after 2k spend + 5,000 for AU. AF waived the first year.

It’s been over 24 months since I last received the bonus for this card, but I will be focusing on CSR or Ink Plus. I’m currently at 4/24 if Chase business cards don’t count towards 5/24 (but I’m at 6/24 if they do).

with all the negative changes to mileage plus recently i would say this is not worth a pull until it goes to 100k.

@DoC: Monitoring Where You Stand vs. 5-24: Do you know anyone resource that may have written a Primer on how to check where one stands in relationship to 5/24 – using a combination of say Credit Karma (since it covers 2 of the 3) and maybe 1 other credit monitoring resource? I searched through a few pages of search results on this site and nothing jumped out. Thank you.

Generally, any bureau’s report will be sufficient, because 5/24 tracks new *accounts* opened, not *inquiries*. I don’t know of any credit cards that report to some bureaus but not others. The only possible difference would be extreme edge cases where a card was just reported or just hit 25 months and a bureau updates a tad slower.

This is not a good deal. Most people got targeted with total of 55,000 sign up bonus (primary + authorized user), plus, any amount of first spending get $50 back. In additional, first year fee waived !
