Our Verdict

Previously we’ve seen bonuses of up to 35,000 SPG points (105,000 Marriott points) and 90,000 + $100 and 100,000 points via referral. These current bonuses are more competitive than the standard 75,000 bonus but are still not that special. Personally I’d wait for a bigger bonus to come along as those other bonuses have often had the annual fee waived as well. Keep in mind the massive Marriott devaluation that is happening soon as well. I won’t be adding these to the list of the best credit card bonuses.

Thank you for staying honest and not adding this to the best bonus list. Marriott need to learn their lesson and stop milking people. They should make it fair.

Good call not adding this one to DOC’s Best Credit Card Bonuses List, WC.

After the massive deval coming next month, and after many prior devals post-Starwood merger and (hashtag)Bonvoyed horror stories, it will take much more than 110K Marriott points to make up for this $30K spend requirement.

Maybe bump up the free night certs to 50K and 60K for AMEX/Chase Marriott’s and AMEX Brilliant, respectively? Or how about 150K bonus offer for $5K or even $10K spend?

Marriott’s been on the take ever since the merger with no signs of slowing down, almost 2 full years later. The preponderance of properties moving up in tiers compared with those moving down is overwhelming. Peak pricing was introduced. Starwood loyalists had their requirements go up significantly to retain their status. Marriott’s 7-night certificate values were decimated. Never-ending tech issues post merger plagued so many Customers’ travel plans.

Hilton did this years ago & is way ahead of Marriott’s curve. But at least with Hilton, they understand their points are worth crap and sell them cheaply via promos. Cardholders can amass way more (compared to Marriott) via spend on Hilton cards or thru AMEX Everyday or Gold from grocery or restaurant transactions. I was able to redeem them late 2018 on Amazon for half cent each. I was lucky enough to get a 50% bonus AMEX to Hilton transfer, too, which made each MR point worth 3 HHonor points.

I love Marriott’s global footprint but they have tightened the belt too much around the Customer experience with their product these past 18 mos.

Meanwhile, I miss my Starwood Gold status, along with my 7-night Marriott certificate which expired because I couldn’t redeem it in TWO lengthy tries due to post merger tech difficulties (hashtag)Bonvoyed.

My annual fee on my AMEX Biz Marriott is due in couple weeks…I’ve got a phone call to make.

Never again (hashtag)Bonvoyed.

The offer also isn’t available if you’ve ever had the Starwoods Preferred business credit card.

First is “Earn 80,000 Bonus Points + $0 Intro Annual Fee” … second is “Earn up to 110,000 Bonus Points + Get a $150 Statement Credit”
