[YMMV] New American Express Delta Offers Without Lifetime Language (Delta Gold 60,000 + $50 & Delta Platinum 70,000 + $100)

American Express released some new public offers last week:

Several readers have also reported receiving the same offers via e-mail and snail mail. The only difference is that these offers do not contain the “Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product.” language. This means you should be able to get the sign up bonus again if you’ve received it before (note there are some reports of people not successfully getting the bonus a second time. It seems if it posts regularly it will work but if you need to contact American Express for any reason it won’t. Seems to be mostly effecting people that had previously applied for the leaked 100,000 Platinum links).

Interestingly it seems like everybody can see if they are targeted for these offers by using the following links:

If you use the above links please confirm that the offer they show does not have the lifetime language.

I had an experience with BRG offer sent to me targeted without the lifetime language, about 9-10months after I closed a similar account. After I met the minimum spend, had to call in after 50 days without the bonus, and the CSR pretty much called me out for being a gamer and tried to insinuate there’s an “unwritten rule” of no bonuses for same card if you had it closed in the past 12 months.

That was total BS and I opened a case and got my points eventually, but it may be a struggle even with these targeted offers if you had the card in the past year…or even 2 years.

Seems like they’ve started going off script and not playing nice with anyone even remotely doing any kind of churning. I would confirm in writing via a chat transcript, that they will give you the bonus before you do any minimum spend.

Amex has overruled their front-line chat CSRs with “we regret you received erroneous information” etc. etc. Did you have to bring in the CFPB to get your points?

I didn’t get that kind of comment. Mostly the guy kept mentioning my past history of “churning” (and I barely did that with Amex) and how with just having closed one of them 9 months ago I shouldn’t be allowed another bonus.

And I kept pointing out that their CSR and targeted promo mailer didn’t say that so perhaps they should mention ALL the disqualifications up front. I didn’t threaten CFPB but I was pretty firm that if this wasn’t resolved I’d be taking things higher up.

I got my bonus after another month and a half, but I’m not sure if it was just normal delay that they now have built in, or my complaint helped.

Where is the data possibly connecting not getting the bonus the second time on these Delta cards with the leaked 100k Plat MR offer? It just seems a stretch to make that connection with what are likely very limited datapoints. Also, if there is a clear connection, it would be worth knowing whether the people who did the 100k leaked URL for their MR points restricted or not.

There is one other main data also worth examining for those who may not be getting the Delta targeted offers– what type of MS did they potentially do? There’s been clear indications that Amex has stopped Simon GCs from counting, so that could be a reason.

I’d be great to see or have a better understanding of the conclusions made in the write-up.

My relative got this offer for then Platinum, despite having earned and burned on the same card only about 4 months ago. Seems crazy that he got the offer again, where other family members have not.

Well, I was targeted, applied and was accepted. Of course, I have had the card before, so we’ll see if I get the points. No once in a lifetime language was on the app. Even if I don’t get the points, I don’t mind having the card for a year when the AF is waived, since it gives free bags on DL.

I got the offer in the mail for the Delta Gold. There’s no life time bonus notice, but a long list of bonus abuse, misuse, or gaming warnings, for example if you applied to obtain a bonus we did not intend for you or cancel within 12 months of acquiring it. It says that they may cancel all accounts.

Thanks for the heads up–I see both when I log into my Amex account.

I mean SkyMiles account.

Hey, another heads up–I see both these offers at SkyMiles on both the personal AND business sides. All four on the site have bold language about previous signups not being eligible.

same here, i see all of them but when i click apply:

Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product.

I don’t see the language in any of the application pages or the “Offer Terms”
Where exactly is that sentence?

Any link that we can check targeted offers for the business Delta cards?

I just recently filled my fourth AMEX credit card slot (also have a charge card). Does AMEX still limit you to four credit cards?

Thanks Bob.

There is still the anecdotal evidence of an increased risk of FR, but since I’m understating income and assets (my SO’s accounts) that shouldn’t be a major concern.

I guess we’re about to find out. 🙂

my email doesn’t have the 12 month language but it says:
If we in our sole discretion determine that you have engaged in abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with the welcome bonus offer in any way or that you intend to do so (for example, if you applied for one or more cards to obtain a welcome bonus offer (s) that we did not intend for you; if you cancel or downgrade your account within 12 months after acquiring it; or if you cancel or return purchases you made to meet the Threshold Amount), we may not credit the welcome bonus to, we may freeze the welcome bonus credited to, or we may take away the welcome bonus from your account. We may also cancel this Card account and other Card accounts you may have with us.

Is this a better offer?

When I used the links and logged in, it didn’t have the “once per lifetime” verbiage. I just had the card 6 months back, both business and personal. Should I still go ahead??

If you received an mail offer with offer code CHT6:0001, you can go for it. I have called and confirmed one for lifetime restriction is not attached to this offer code.

I was targeted for the 70k platinum offer but just recently closed the same card several months back. Lets see if I still receive the new bonus

I currently have the Delta Pat business, guessing these offers do not work if you currently hold either gold or platinum versions of the personal or business cards?

When I click on the two links above and enter # + last name I get “To receive your Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card offer, you must log in using the same SkyMiles® account number located on the email or letter where you received the specific offer.”
