[YMMV] Southwest: Complete 1-3 Round Trip Flights & Earn 4,000-15,000 Southwest Points

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Southwest is offering some customers up to 15,000 Southwest points when they complete round trip flights. Bonus is broken down as follows:
    • Fly one round trip and get 4,000 points
    • Fly a second round trip and get 5,000 more points
    • Fly a third round trip and get 6,000 more points

The Fine Print

  • Register by November 21st, 2019
  • Flights must be completed by March 31st, 2020
  • Points will be deposited within four days after completion of entire ticket
  • Rapid Rewards bonus points will not count toward A-List, A-List Preferred, or Companion Pass qualification. Charter flights, group travel, Companion Pass, Southwest Vacations® packages, and reward travel do not qualify for promotion

Our Verdict

Bit annoying that these points won’t count towards the Southwest companion pass.

Unfortunately the fine print indicates that “registration must be completed prior to booking” so definitely keep worth keeping an eye out for a rebooking opportunity (even for the same price I suppose) for any itineraries that are already on the books…

And I’m also realizing that this promo won’t apply for any of us who try to split our trips into 2 one-way flights in order to maintain maximum flexibility with changes, so might be worth keeping that in mind as well!

Targeted? Clicking the direct link after logging in got me “Oops! This form has the following errors: We are unable to register you for this promotion.”

I think that’s why it says [ymmv] in the title

“Companion pass does not qualify” does this mean that if you add a companion to a ticket you pay for with cash, you won’t get the bonus? Or just that the companion won’t also (if they are registered for the promotion)?

Based on what I’m understanding the person who makes the cash or points booking should be eligible, but not the companion passenger since they’re on a non-revenue ticket.

That’s my reading too, except “no reward travel”, which I assume means point bookings

Ah shoot, good catch.

Anybody targeted for this? If not, article is kinda worthless. Wastes peoples time for no reason. Why? Because you have to register with your frequent flier number only to get an error. Who knows their frequent flier number on top of there head? Then you have to do the same thing for family members, wife, kids, etc.
