Our Verdict
Last year there was the same offer that ran from December 3rd – February 28th, but the “standard” sign up bonus on this card is 60,000 points after $3,000 in spend. As far as I know this 80,000 bonus is the highest this card has ever been, although in the past Hilton points have been much more valuable.
Personally I don’t really have much use for Hilton points, so I’m going to give this offer a miss. I think this offer makes sense in two scenarios:
- You want gold status with Hilton
- You have a lot of paid stays with Hilton (12x points is the highest you can get)
Obviously if you have a need for Hilton points then this card would also make sense. As I said, I don’t think 80,000 Hilton points goes very far, so I’m going to give this offer a miss but hopefully some of you find it useful. We’ve updated our best hotel credit card post with this new sign up bonus. The Citi Hilton Visa Signature also has an increased sign up bonus of 60,000 points with no annual fee for those interested.
I’d also thoroughly recommend reading our post “15 things you should know about American Express” before applying for this card.
Hat tip to Running with Miles
You’re probably aware, but the no fee version is back to 60k points as well, likely competing with Citi’s recent 60k bump.
Didn’t notice this, thanks David.
