The Offer
Most people are reporting the following offer:
- Spend $5 or more at iTunes and receive a $5 statement credit.
Others mention getting an offer of:
- Spend $10 or more at iTunes and receive a $10 statement credit.
This is really free money for those who use iTunes. Not all accounts are showing these offers, but many seem to have one of them.
The Fine Print
- Valid until 8/31/15
- “Enrolled card must be set as iTunes payment method”
- “iTunes gift cards purchased in Apple stores, on Apple.com, or through a 3rd party are excluded.”
- “Not valid for purchases of any other Apple products in-store or online at Apple.com.”
Our Verdict
The easiest way to take advantage of this offer is to buy $10 iTunes gift cards and get $5 or $10 off. ($10 is the smallest iTunes gift card denomination.) You should also be able to get an additional 8% back by going through the portal.
The terms of the Amex Offer exclude gift cards purchased on apple.com, but travelwithgrant.com reports that he purchased a $10 iTunes e-gift card through the iTunes program and received the email from Amex thanking him for using the offer. So it appears possible to trigger the credit so long as you buy it from the iTunes program/app. This has been the case in the past as well and has been confirmed by others as well (1, 2).
It would also be possible to resell the iTunes gift card. The only option here would be to sell it to Cardcash since the other sellers don’t accept e-gift cards. In the case of the $5 Offer, there wouldn’t be much of a profit, but it could be useful for those who got the $10. Would yield ~$6 profit.
Personally, I’m having trouble finding the link for these $10 iTunes e-gift cards. If anyone can provide us with the link, I’ll add it into the post. [UPDATE: Grant advises us that the e-gift card link is on the right-hand side when you log into your iTunes account. Look for “redeem” or “purchase” words.]

how do you buy a 10 gift card, all i see is 25 dollar gift cards?
thanks
You can chose you own dollar amount. The minimum allowed is 10 when u do that. You can do it right in iTunes.
I ended up buying some go that I sent to myself then after loading to my account since it appears the 9.99 didn’t trigger it.. After it settled about a week later I got my credit so I don’t believe the 9.99 worked since it had been settled for about a month prior. I would have done that first I just didn’t realize I could just send myself a GC.
I activated these offers on my AMEX card and received confirmation or that. I purchased an app for $9.99 even though the offer was for spending $10. I received an email from AMEX that said thanks for using your offer (Like I normally do)…
After a billing cycle still no credit on my account..
Has anyone else used this $10 offer and only spent 9.99 and received the credit?
cheers!
I did the same thing, I just bought a $9.99 movie and with tax it came out to be around $10.50. Wondering if my $10/$10 amex sync offer will work or not. Anybody done this yet and have it work or not work?

There is a feature call “iTunes Pass” where you can create a passbook entry for your iTunes account and then use it to refill your account at a retail Apple store. I wonder if you could only load $5 this way? And if it would trigger the Amex Offer?
Don’t know, sorry.
I was able to do a test with iTunes Pass for less than $1, but it posts as the retail store. So doesn’t help here… but maybe in the future somehow.
I didn’t see this on any of the many cards I have access to. I have taken advantage of this in the past.
Be careful if you think you can do this one over and over again. Each time you have to change the credit card on file with iTunes and Apple puts limits on the number of times you can do this. You’ll end up calling them and they’ll tell you something like “you can’t change it again until date X” which may or may not still be within the offer period. I’d plan to do it only four times or so. Feel free to chime in if you have more current data–this was maybe a year ago.
Thanks for the data point. Interesting to keep in mind.
Only got it on one of my cards…
I got it on a bunch.
I got 4 $10 iTunes gift cards and get $10 off.
Nice
