New Avianca Credit Cards from Banco Popular de Puerto Rico (20,000-60,000 Point Bonus)

Update: The 60,000 bonus is no longer available as there is no where to put the promo code unfortunately.

On Thursday we shared details and a full review of the two new Avianca credit cards. At the time it was possible to apply for the cards, but this was quickly pulled and replaced by a message stating the cards would go live on November 28th. The cards have now gone live:

You should be able to get a bonus of 60,000 miles on the Vuela card by using the promotional code AVSPWE. The bonuses on these cards are impressive given that there is no minimum spend requirement (added this to our page of credit card bonuses with no minimum spend requirement). The downside is that the annual fees on both cards are not waived.

We don’t know a lot about Banco Popular, so if you apply for the cards please share the relevant information in the comments (e.g what credit bureau they pulled, what state you’re in, did they combine inquiries if you applied for both cards, what credit limit did you receive etc etc).

As mentioned, you can find our full review of these cards here.

$149 annual fee posted, called and they waived the whole fee if I kept the card open another year – which I did.

Applied on 14 June after receiving an email from Avianca with code AVSPWE for 60K LM (I think same code when it first came out). Went into pending/review status. A rep called me the next day verifying my ID & info due to fraud alert on my credit reports. Checked back later and it was conditionally approved for $13K and asked for W2, most recent pay stub and employment verification letter. Uploaded info via web link on 15 June. Checked back today 16 June and it was booked (aka approved$ for $25k. Received an email this afternoon stating card is on the way to Dallas TX. They are definitely inquiries friendly. TU 741, EQ 740, EX 665.

Also was trying to app for their Dual Black but it didn’t let me. Must be PR res.

They told me I was declined. Any reconsideration? Any idea what their reasoning is usually?

Anyone have an online link to check the status of applications? I haven’t heard back from them in awhile despite them saying they’d email with an update.

Pulled the Avianca for myself and my wife. Both approved with double hits with TU and Eq.

Did double pull on Equifax and 1 on transunion. Got approve for $25,000 . Did not have to provide
verification of income . Got card 15 days after applying. Not sure whether will get 40 or 60K points. Will advise. multiple inquiries during year , plus 8-10 new cards. Fico score 806.
Got cards as I am frozen with Chase for next 2 years because of 5/24 rule.

When you say “prove salary” you mean upload a tax return or something?

I read this thread and decided to pull the trigger. I have many new cards and inquiries in profile this year and I was approved for $13k @ 18.99, decent SL. I did have to prove salary and answer the normal credit profile questions, and shortly after uploading the docs, status changed to a fully approved status. Not sure if I got the 60k bonus though. Should have the card in 7-10 business days.
