[11/18-11/24] Get $5 Walgreens Gift Card with Purchase of Two Vanilla Visa Gift Cards

The Offer

A reader sent us a picture from Walgreen’s about an upcoming deal, November 18th to 24th. It should show up in the next weekly ad.

  • Get a free $5 Walgreen’s gift card with the purchase of any two Vanilla Visa gift cards, $25 Google Play gift cards, or Spa&Wellness gift cards.

The Fine Print

  • Valid 11/18 – 11/24
  • Balance Rewards card required
  • Limit $750 load per card type, and up to daily purchasing limits per person

Our Verdict

Buying two $500 Visas won’t work according to fine print due to $750 limit, not sure if that’s actually enforced. It does stack well with the Q4 2018 Chase Freedom category of Chase Pay if you have it hooked up with Samsung Pay.

Walgreen’s is always a bit tough with volume purchasers and with using credit card on Visa gift cards at all, but that depends on location and cashier.

I wonder if it would work if I get a $500 vanilla and a $25 google play card? I will find out next week.

Is Vanilla Visa still a mp go for MO at Walmart? How are you draining these?

IME, it works to load prepaid reloadables but NOT for buying MO.

I’ve drained a lot of these to my Serve/BB cards where register didn’t prompt for PIN but I found out it doesn’t work at all WMs, I failed at 5 until I found two where it worked (midW). Those interested can do their trial runs.

Given that Vanilla gift cards have a fee of $5.95, this is less that exciting.

Except if one is trying to meet minimum spend hastily and is a regular Walgreens shopper. $475 and $25 is a good split for the $500 max stores and at least there is something in return.

The Drop app offers pts for purchases at Walgreens if you chose it as one of your ongoing offers. If you’re new to Drop you can use Will or Chuck’s referral links to sign up…John 3:16

It never worked for me… nor did SPENT. Dosh works beautifully though.

Walgreen’s system only allows buying gift cards no more than $500 per transaction (at least in my area).

During Q3, the Walgreen’s register required that I split into 2 transactions with 4 VGCs and 4 fees or 3 transactions with 3 VGCs and 3 fees. The $750 limit was hard-coded.

Got excited about chase pay at walgreens then realized it’s Samsung pay. So much for that

The Q4 bonus category for the Chase Freedom is technically Chase Pay, so it should work
