$1,400 Stimulus Deposits Already Showing for Some

Readers report Friday already getting their $1,400 stimulus deposits. That’s record speed given the bill was just signed into law on Thursday. Good news! Now go out and spend it. 😉

Hopefully it’ll show Monday or Tuesday for everyone else. In some cases it might be slower bank processing time and it could also be the IRS is sending it out in batches.

You can check the status of your payment at this IRS link. And here’s the IRS FAQ page.

The IRS scheduled to send my payment to the account I have not received any payments to or pay taxes from at least 5-6 years. It is my checking account I constantly use.

Nothing posted today. Lookup tool doesn’t work. I received 2nd stimulus on the first possible day. Took a while to get the first one. What is going on?

Citizens Bank on board with all the other major banks, mine is slated for deposit on Wednesday 3/17. I guess it’s like any other ACH direct deposit, banks only release the funds once it’s cleared? They get notification of the deposit a day or two earlier so some like Chime and Porte actually give you the money when they first get it.

Some people claiming the banks earn interest on it by waiting to deposit it for a day or two and they actually get the money today, is that true(serious question)? Not familiar with all the mechanics of ACH transfers but I know they get some kind of notification a day or two earlier, a couple accounts I’ve churned make a direct deposit available in the account a day earlier than normal.

Not too late to file 2020 taxes and use Traditional IRA to bring down your AGI. You can’t contribute to 2020 401k unfortunately.

I saw mine as pending on March 12, but like last time it will be pending for five business days then becomes accessible.

Are you required to spend the $1,400 by a certain time frame? Originally some congressmen mentioned adding that requirement to the bill. I don’t feel like reading the whole bill to find out.

No, you don’t have to spend it by any specific time frame. It’s cash. Once it’s in your account, it’s yours to do with however you want and whenever you want.
