Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Small business checking account has no monthly fees.
Early Account Termination Fee
Our Verdict
There is also a $200 personal checking bonus as well that doesn’t require a direct deposit. Definitely worth doing but not sure what business documents are required.

FUCK THIS BANK SO HARD. I spent an hour and a half in the branch opening a business checking account and was approved with no issues. Two days later, out of nowhere, I get an email notice saying my account has been closed.
I called the banker who opened my account, the branch manager, and the call center, and none could give me any reason why it was closed beyond what was listed on the letter I got in the mail — which was, “we can close accounts for any reason”.
Assuming it’s because of my Chex, which is lol/24. What a waste of time.
Got most of the way through the lenghty application process, then couldn’t proceed.Kept getting the error “invalid session”
I had the same problem on firefox desktop and mobile, started the app but it kept on hanging on one step. I switched to a vanilla chrome browser (no adblock etc) and it worked.
SouthState now has branches in CO and TX as well.
I noticed this bank is down the street in Texas also. I know PNC has different state eligibility for their personal vs biz (no PNC biz accounts in TX if I remember correctly).
Did you ever try opening a biz account with SouthState in TX
TRCptM ?
I haven’t yet. It’s on the list, but lower priority since there’s no expiration published. Might do it sooner since I missed the “OR” in the requirements. lol
Carlzjr , US Bank is the same way (but opposite). No personal in TX without prior relationship but TX business was no problem.
But I get ya,
I’ll update when/if approved.
Yeah it is a juicy one with just 15 swipes for $400… might try my luck opening online then go in branch if online is no-go.
Forgot to tag you,
TRCptM , doors are open in TX! Opened online as an LLC, no chex questions, funky website- had to do the app on chrome browser.
Thanks
Carlzjr !
Paid out exactly 90 days later without problems, used the debit card route, legit purchases.
I’m LOL/24, applied in-branch and approved!
Looks like it’s now available online
attempted with current Southstate checking account and declined due to frozen Chex
they do ask for EIN for sole prop and DBA registration online. Debating on whether to unfreeze Chex and attempt as it’s horrible now but definitely easy bonus if approved online!
I applied online and received an email an hour later stating I was declined due to my Chex score of 642. Bummer.
They never questioned me in person about my Chex at the 2nd branch. 1st branch had papers printed showing all of my chex inquiries since I made an appointment beforehand
Any idea if the 5000 ACH into the account has to remain in the account for a period of time, or can it be withdrawn shortly after its been deposited?

Did you open online or in branch?
Had to open in branch, don’t think it was available to open online at the time.
