Anyone else having trouble with connecting Synovus to Fidelity? Can’t connect via Fidelity, so can’t push from fidelity.

I was told this morning that “mobile deposit” means using their app to deposit a paper check. This fulfills the direct deposit requirement. Can be a check from yourself to yourself.

So you don’t even need the fake DD. Lol

Is this for the monthly requirement to avoid fee or for the bonus requirement? pretty sure it’s the former

What banks are you all pushing the $3500 monthly for? I have been using Ally, but I got a service fee this morning

FIDELITY.. They will probably refund you as a courtesy if you call and ask.

I used CIT. Did you make sure the timing of your 3500 push? If was just outside of the statement window you would get a fee. It happened to my other banks before so now I always check the statement cycle date.

Lily yeah, confirmed it was right in the middle of the previous statement cycle. Not sure whats up.
Artist Formerly Known as Jimmy I called in and they would not waive it saying transfers from other banks dont count. I told them that their website doesnt specify anything asides from “deposit $3500 monthly” and they said it was implied to be direct deposit. Ill call back tomorrow

That’s bad service. Almost all banks will waive it at least once just as a courtesy, regardless of any other factors. Maybe it’s a HUCA thing. Hopefully you have a better outcome tomorrow.

That is horrible! “Implied?” That won’t fly. Seems like a bad bank to do business with.

For the $450 cash bonus portion with qualifying direct deposits totaling $1000 within the first 60 days of account opening: Terms say “Direct deposit, cash or check deposit, ACH, and mobile deposits are all eligible transaction types.”

Any data points from someone successfully using Venmo to fulfill this portion?

I was not targeted for this (even though i’m only a couple miles down the road from a branch), but opened 6/18 based on a FB ad in-branch, and have only used ACH transfers so far. Have not gotten hit with any maintenance fees (depositing at least $3500 a month). Waiting to see what happens at the end of the month if the bonus will post automatically or if i’ll need to call in.
I did get a mailer this week for my business that’s a $500 bonus which also stipulates ACH transfers as a possibility to meet the deposit requirements, so that seems like a common theme with this bank.

Harrison Logan Pro Tip: Open a Chase Biz account and spend the $2.50 to send yourself quasi-legitimate DDs (Employee ACH Payment) on bonuses, such as this, that may be targeted and have iffy DPs. That way you can call the bank and see what’s up, as opposed to this situation where you can’t really ask where your bonus is since you didn’t really meet the terms. That’s what I did, and it still netted me $597.50. If you don’t have the Chase Biz already, I can send you a referral or there are other promos also.

04/14 – Opened online (wasn’t targeted)

04/29 through 05/05 – 15 various debit transactions

05/07 – $1K employer DD

08/06 – $600 “Promo Incentive” received

Monthly $3500 ACH in-and-out to keep the account fee free.

Overall a nice bonus and interesting that it was possible without being targeted or near a branch.

As always, thank you DoC, fellow readers and Synovus Bank!

04/04 – Opened in branch (showed banker $600 Facebook promo on my phone)
04/15 – Real DD $1001
04/25 – 15 $1+ debit transactions for utility company
07/31 – $600 Bonus posted – “PROMO INCENTIVE”

For me this bonus was a bit of a saga. I originally tried to apply online through the page on the promo from Facebook, but the application bugged out twice, so I decided to try my luck applying in branch. I showed the banker the Facebook ad, but he was very confused because there was no promo code and said it might not be added to my account. He told me to email him a screenshot of the Facebook ad, which I did. A few days later, I got two emails from Synovus saying the two online applications that had earlier bugged out had been approved with links to Docusign. Since I now had an existing checking account because I had opened in branch, I knew these ones wouldn’t count for the promo so declined to sign but wish I had waited and saved myself the hassle.

Did all the requirements and sent a secure message asking if the promo had tracked and just got back a generic response about the requirements for the promo, not whether or not my account actually had it or not. Each statement period, I ACH pushed in $3501 to avoid the fee and pulled it back out immediately. The promo terms said: If earned, the incentive payout(s) will be posted by one of the following payout dates: June 27, 2025 and August 29, 2025, depending when the account was opened and the transaction requirements are met, and will be in the form of a credit to the new checking account reflected on your statement as “checking incentive.” June 27 had come and gone and I had met the requirements back in April, so in mid July I sent another secure message asking about the promo, and the response back just said “Sine June has already passed your payout date is 08/29/2025.” Then on July 31 the $600 bonus posted. No idea if it was manually added or if the bonus had actually tracked, but guessing the former since it clearly didn’t post in June or August like the terms said it would. Pretty messy but I got it in the end.

When i went in branch, the banker wouldn’t do anything for me because i didnt have a promo code. they made me apply on my phone there in the lobby instead, so we’ll see how it goes later this month

Is a Promo code required (there’s a field) or somehow entered on the back end?
