Our Verdict

This has the potential to be very profitable, I guess we will find out in 24 hours (or sooner if somebody already has a teen account set up). It’s also worth noting that teen accounts are highly restricted, more on that here.

Just created an account, did not seem to work. Will have to wait 24 hours I suppose.

Some caveats about how the teen accounts work to be aware of for usage beyond this deal: https://www.reddit.com/r/amazon/comments/7clg1y/amazon_account_issues/

I actually have a teen. She already has a regular Amazon account (as do my other family members), for the occasional once-per-account offers. Since I didn’t want to mess with the weird restrictions of the teen account, this morning I set her up a new account with the teen features. I guess I’ll play around with that account tomorrow and see what, if anything, is discountable. My focus would be gift cards.

These teen accounts are a bit weird in that you can only sign in to your account from a mobile app (if you have access to a regular computer, who prefers to shop on their phone?). I logged into my daughter’s new account, added an airbnb gift card, and tried to use the code. It didn’t work. Any ideas, or is this deal just a “fail”?

is there a restriction on ‘upto what amount” gift cards can be bought at 20% discount?

Now it has been 24 hours since I created the teen account. Still the coupon isn’t working on any item. Anybody got this to work?

Nope, I’m past the 24 hour mark too and no luck with this one… If anyone gets this one to work please provide a DP.

I’m well past the 24 hour mark and it doesn’t seem to work. I’ve even tried it on a flower vase sold and shipped by amazon and still got the message the promo code couldn’t be applied.

I was able to redeem. Bought some gift cards from the mother’s day page. Took 26 hours after creating the teen account.

Does shopping have to be done va teen account only from smartapp/smartphone or laptop purchases would be eligible too for this discount promo?

Also max limit/restrictions of how much can be bought?

Lastly is this a one time use only or repeat orders can be done too?

Teen accounts only work in the app. Try it on a regular computer if you like, but I don’t think you’ll be able to sign in.

From other comments, there doesn’t seem to be a max. Someone successfully ordered $2,000, and someone else got all the way to “place your order” with $26,000.

“Sorry! We couldn’t find that page. Try searching or go to Amazon’s home page.” That is what happens when clicking on the make teen account.

Its working. Purchased Hotels gift card. However, uber gift card doesn’t seem to be working. Looks like few restrictions are there. FYI – Account was created two days back. Thank you Doc.

How long did you wait after creating the account?

Any specific reason why all the big Giftcard resell websites (e.g. Cardcash, Cardpool,…) do not allow you to resell Amazon giftcards?

Is there a place to resell Amazon giftcards directly (without having to list them myself) for a reasonable amount (>80% of value)?

It seems there is absolutely no cap on the 20% discount. Wonder what will happen if I actually hit the checkout button

The order will be cancelled by Amazon within 30 minutes, usually instantly. You’ll get an email explaining why.

do any of the giftcards offered on the eligible page atually resell for over 80%? im checking everything and the best i see is like $70 for a $100 giftcard on cardcash so you would lose money pretty much..

Fyi: Nike GC is 80% on Cardcash, making it breakeven.
(see my other post, had kind of the same idea, but ultimately decided against it)

I was able to place an order for $1,000 worth of Lyft and $1,000 worth of Hotels.com eGifts. I haven’t placed a 2nd order, but it seems like the code is reusable insomuch that it lets me apply it to my cart.
