Our Verdict
35,000 is the highest bonus we’ve seen on this card and $7,000 is one of the lower minimum spend requirement. We saw the 35,000 offer twice last year, once in November which required $10,000 in total spend and February with a $8,000 spend requirement. I can’t see this bonus going higher than 35,000 points so I’d recommend applying for this card and offer if you can meet the spend requirement. Because of this I’ll be adding it to the best business bonuses.
I personally find SPG points very valuable for a few reasons:
- Properties are priced reasonably in points (35,000 points goes a long way to compared to other programs)
- They transfer at a rate of 1:3 to Marriott
- They can be transferred to airline partners at a 1:1 rate with a 5,000 mile bonus for every 20,000 transfered
You can view the best uses of SPG points here. American Express usually doesn’t match sign up bonuses if you’ve recently applied for this card, what they will do is offer courtesy points. You must call in to receive these courtesy points and sometimes it’s necessary to escalate to a manager. Make sure you stay polite and be kind to your phone reps, they don’t owe you anything and are more likely to help somebody that is polite and nice than somebody who makes demands.

I feel dumb asking this question but I can’t seem to find an answer anywhere.
Is there an annual bonus on this card when it renews? I’ve got a 7500 point bonus showing up on my SPG account coded as “SPG AX DEFAULT” but I don’t have any spending that correlates to that amount.
I have other line items that match the monthly spending on the card. Is this an annual bonus or did I luck out somehow? I haven’t called in for any retention offers on this card.

I just applied (03/28) using another reader’s referral link and was approved instantly. Incidentally, I also applied for SPG Personal (2 credit cards in same day) right after, and the second application was auto-approved as well. So perhaps the AmEx algo no longer contains the ‘1-credit-card-per-day-for-auto-approval’ rule?
I was thinking of using this to pay rent via Plastiq, but the last DPs were that Plastiq payments can no longer be made by Amex. Any ideas?
Also how easy/difficult is it to get Sheraton lounge access with card? There seem to be mixed reports. Unclear if just holding the card is enough or if we need to pay Sheraton booking with card or we need to physically have card with us when checking in? Thanks!!
Does anyone know a way to churn Amex cards anymore?? Gift cards…no go. Bank account funding with a cc…almost all banks don’t accept Amex. Serve/bluebird…dead. We gatta get creative guys we should start a thread on how to churn Amex cards I would love to sign up but 7k msr without many churning options=yikes

No you can only have one Ink card the reg or preferred . Also make sure when you apply for those cards you do both applications in one day in order to only get one hard pull.
3/15/2018 . Instant approval. Legit new Sole/p with <$5000 yearly net income. I have 1 personal Amex card (Less than 2 years old) and am at 1/12 ; 6/24. 770 Credit score. Income $89K. I only have 2-3 hard pulls on report Amex used.
In the past year I've received denials for Capital One business card and Barclay personal card.

I have 5 Amex credit cards including the spg personal. I applied for this spg bus since this maybe the last chance for the 35K. I can’t cancel my other cards bc i have not reached my 12 month’s. My app immediately went on hold. The next day, they called me and asked if I wanted to cancel one of my other cards due to the 5 card limit. After a explaining of my situation, I was told that I was being given the opportunity to cancel one of my other credit cards without any claw backs. To my amaze, I didn’t know which to cancel, so I cancelled my card that I just received this last December. Then I was approved! I still have all of my points from my cancelled card.
In you link regarding lifetime bonus you state that “Not sure if the same incremental difference applies to business cards as well.”. Is this confirmed now then? If I had the business version in the past then I am no longer eligible?
