American Express Delta Gold 50,000 Mile + $150 Statement Credit with Dummy Booking [YMMV]

The Offer

The following offer is showing up for some when making a booking with Delta. You can make a dummy booking to try getting the offer:

  • 50,000 miles after $2,000 in spend within the first three months
  • $150 statement credit after your first Delta purchase

Our Verdict

Currently, there’s a public offer to get 60k + $50 statement credit; the tradeoff is $100 more cash for 10k less miles, plus this offer only requires $2k spend instead of $3k. In the past, we’ve seen offers of 60k miles + $100 statement credit and 75k miles + $50 statement credit.

If you have a question regarding American Express cards, read this post first as it probably answers your question. If not feel free to ask in the comments. American Express generally doesn’t match sign up bonuses, but they will often offer courtesy points if you call in and ask.

What counts as Delta purchase?

you can buy delta gift card. I tried and it work.

So, buying a $5 Delta gift card will trigger the bonus?

minimum is $50 on delta

does anything else count as a delta purchase

Doc, what is your verdict? It seems the 50k miles offer is superior.

Have you seen a Delta Gold Business offer similar to this one?

Miles offer probably better for most people, especially as there has been 60k + $100 I think

This offer or is the chase preferred better?

Not sure if you mean the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the Chase Ink Preferred, but if you’re eligible for either of these Chase cards, they are certainly better.

+1. Just to add that CSP is better, CIP is waaaay better offers.

Sapphire preferred. But in the end I can’t do chase BC I can’t reach the 4k limit to spend to get the 50k bonus in 3 months time. The 2k limit from delta I can do. Thanks anyway

If I already got the playinum bonus earlier this year, can I still get the gold bonus?

Yes if you’ve never had the gold before
