The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • American Express is offering 125,000 Hilton points after $2,000 in spend within the first three months on the Hilton Ascend card

The Fine Print

  • Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product or the Hilton Honors Surpass Card
  • Not a new card vs the Surpass
  • Annual fee of $95
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 12X Hilton Honors Bonus Points at hotels and resorts in the Hilton portfolio worldwide
    • 6X Hilton Honors Bonus Points at U.S. supermarkets, U.S. restaurants, and U.S. gas stations
    • 3X Hilton Honors Bonus Points on all other eligible purchases
  • 10 free priority pass lounge passes
  • Complimentary Hilton Honors gold status. Earn Diamond status after spending $40,000 in purchases within a calendar year
  • One Weekend Night Reward at a hotel or resort in the Hilton portfolio after spending $15,000 in purchases on the card in a calendar year
  • No foreign transaction fees

Our Verdict

Previously the best offer we’ve seen is 100,000 points + free night certificate on anniversary. Which offer is better will likely depend on the type hotels you like to stay at, if you like high end hotels then a free night certificate is probably better than 25,000 points + $95. Personally I probably prefer this offer but I’m probably in the minority there. American Express doesn’t match bonuses, but they do offer courtesy points in most cases. If you have any questions about American Express read this post first. Bonuses have also been increased on the other Hilton cards:

I probably won’t be adding this to the best credit card bonus list just based on that previous offer having been available.

 Chuck
does anyone know if currently having the person amex hilton ascend card will disqualify you from this business bonus?
ive never had the biz card, but received the “ineligible for promotion” notification during application.
thanks!

Don’t think personal disqualifies from business.

That popup sometimes comes even when you are technically eligible; they arbitrarily decide you aren’t eligible.

A quick reminder, if you use incognito mode, you may see 150K offer for the hilton ascend card and 100k offer for the non-annual fee card.

These guys are so mean. Once in a lifetime and no matching offers. I got my card a week ago. So sad. Asked a rep via chat, got 5k points.

I had the Citi Hilton and it got converted into Amex Hilton Honors. Can I get this offer if I ask them to covert to Ascend?

after getting f/r by and preemptively shutting down my accounts with amex I was able to get back on with them by transferring over from citi when amex took over the citi hilton cards? can i try applying for a new amex card again especially since its one year later? or am i risking losing even my existing relationships with them as I dont have tax returns to show? also, am i now ineligible from ever getting the bonus on the surpass/ascend? and are there any history of upgrade offers to the aspire without having a hard pull? thank you Mr charles for your great website it enhances my life tremendously , Hubert

I’m totally confused now after clicking on the older 150K link offer above and then seeing an Aspire card offer with a $450 fee. AMEX is confusing consumers with all these gyrations. So is the Ascend the replacement for the Aspire or are there 3 different AMEX Hilton personal cards?
