Our Verdict

No end date on this offer. Previously the bonus has been only 100,000, so this is a significant increase. If you applied for this card recently then keep in mind that American Express doesn’t match bonuses, but they do offer courtesy points. Here’s what you want to do:

  • Don’t message, online representatives do not have the ability to award courtesy points.
  • Call and say you’re disappointed that a new higher bonus became available so recently after you applied.
  • The firs representative will usually not offer a full match for 50,000 points. Ask politely to escalate to a manage and repeat your disappointment.
  • Manager does have the ability to provide the full difference.

Don’t let them just say that they will e-mail the rewards department, that is a sure fire way of getting nothing. This offer is really worth considering if you can take advantage of the resort and airline credits, if you can’t then the $450 annual fee likely kills the deal unfortunately. I will be adding this to our list of the best credit card bonuses. If you have any questions about American Express read this post first. Bonuses have also been increased on other Hilton credit cards:

Applied last week for the 100k offer and just received the card today. Bollocks!

Same here. And AMEX will tell you tough luck, no matching. 🙁

I just applied a few hours ago for the 100k. Grrrrr odds of getting it changed to 150k? Any one ever lucky with Amex?!

If one holds on to this card for 10 years, do you get lifetime Diamond status?

Derek
Derek

I do remember reading somewhere a while ago that an AmEx rep confirmed that this counts towards the time part of the equation. Take that for what it’s worth. However, besides the 10 year requirement, I think there’s also a need for 1,000 nights. To boot, the lifetime program is invite only so no guarantees.

Any one seeing the 150K points offer pop up via upgrade? Have the Ascend card and don’t see it on my end.

Ryan
Ryan

Nope, the only upgrade “offer” they’re showing me has a big fat ZERO bonus!

Was just offered and accepted the 150k (4k spend) offer to upgrade from Ascend to Aspire.

Looks like Hilton smells Marriott/SPG blood in the water.

It seems both Amex and Hilton official sites don’t have this 150K offer yet. Any idea about when this offer will become truly public?

Its already publicly available:

Will wait for the referral links to show the higher bonus. 150K + 12K (from spend) + 20K (self referral) should make this a very compelling offer.

How does self referral work?

If you currently have the Hilton Ascend or No AF card, you can use referral link from that card and apply for Aspire card.

Do we know this will happen eventually? My referral links all show 100,000. Would not want to miss out on an extra 20K if these show up eventually, but would also not want to miss out on 150K now.

Any tips on getting the referral link to generate for the Aspire card, even to check if it is up to 150K? I currently have the vanilla Platinum, Schwab Platinum, Mercedes-Benz Platinum, Premier Rewards Gold, Hilton Ascend, Blue Cash Preferred, Platinum Delta SkyMiles, and SPG Personal. I go to https://americanexpress.com/refer or click “Refer Now” from the dashboard, and only have referral offers for the Ascend, Platinum, BCP, Platinum Delta, and SPG Personal.

Tried the links in reddit referral, it’s still 100k, so I don’t think the 150k applies for referral..

walter

It took me a while to figure this out. Go ahead and use the links they provide. Then, when you or someone else uses the link, additional cards will show up. Ascend link should allow the applicant to switch to Aspire etc.

Now I wish I had waited another week before getting this card. Referral offers are available.

Any DP’s showing a match is possible with a Manager?

I’m sure Doc is spot-on per usual on this, but I wouldn’t mind seeing some too.

Should have listen and waited 🙁

Called for a match, escalated, and shut down hard

NinjaX

can u give us more detail? i assume the manager just professionally told u to fuk off?

Anon

Yep, rep said they would send a request to a some other department to review. I politely asked for a supervisor saying that I’d rather get this resolved quickly. Supervisor offered to send the same request to get my case reviewed. I declined and asked if she could process a courtesy match. She said she didn’t have the power to do that unless there was a mistake made by Amex. Then suggested that I write to an Amex executive department.

Will there be any negative effect if I keep calling them asking for match….by keep calling I mean HUCA until someone approves to match

When is the deadline for these offers usually?

Will there be any negative effect if I keep calling them asking for match? Seems like it’s hard to get

metalchipmunk

I called twice. the second time the CSR said a lot of people are requesting to match offer today so without any more explanation he went ahead and “forwarded” my request to their “rewards department”. the CSR also claimed that their “rewards department tends to be flexible” (really??!!!) at the end he said “call in 4-6 weeks to check”.

Jason
Jason

That’s a polite way of getting you off the phone. “rewards department” is code for he threw the request in the trash

Is this one of the cards that provides the card number right upon online approval? I’m at a property now and would of course want to try to apply the credit.

Joe
Joe

It is. Check Reddit. Someone didn’t get an instant card number and they gave them a $315 statement credit instead..

David
David

I’ve also applied recently with the 100k offer and my card should arrive these days. I’ll try to call them and fight for a match, but in case it doesn’t work, is it possible to cancel and reapply? It might be another hard pull but 50k increase of points.

Lynn
Lynn

Don’t do that, won’t work. They only allow one app per credit card for around 7 years to lifetime.

Hsn
Hsn

I didn’t get either. Any tips or idea how i can fight for $315 credit? 🤷🏻‍♂️
