American Express Lowers Hilton Sign Up Bonuses, Some Still Available Via Referral

American Express has lowered the sign up bonus on the Hilton co-branded cards. The following two cards are still available via referral:

The following two cards were available via dummy booking.

If you need a referral for the Ascend card (really the only bonus that has remained the same for referrals but decreased for non referrals) then go here. Please do not share your referral links in this post, we’d like to keep the comments section for discussing the changes.

Approved today for Ascend with 150k bonus. Offer appeared to me this morning on mobile Amex site while I was home, disappeared for me when I was at work (reduced to 130k). I had time to regret it, then I get home and it appears again. Maybe it’s linked to IP address?

Just approved for the Hilton Honors Card (100k) and the Ascend Card (150k).

I do have a few questions  William Charles  Chuck :

1) Since the Ascend offers a Priority Pass Membership and I already have a Priority Pass Membership through the Hilton Biz Card do I get 20 Passes total (10 from each)??

2) They gave me a $1,000 SL on both cards which means it’ll be a bit hard to meet the SUB on the Ascend (3k MSR) what should I do? I know they don’t like multiple payments in the first billing cycle.

3) I now have 3 Hilton Credit Cards is that okay with Amex, like is there any risk of shutdown? These are the only cards I have with Amex though.

Thanks!

I love using hilton points for hotels and get very good value. Just booked room for daughters volleyball tournament, 30,000 points for an almost $400 incl taxes in Reno. I would never use it for amazon.

I have the upgrade offers for my no fee Hilton card, don’t know expiration date. Never have Aspire/Ascent before! if I upgrade, could I apply and get a new Aspire/Ascent later?

Would you say we will see higher offer (>150k) for ascend card or this is the best bet?  William Charles

TL/DR: This is the best bet.

I know you didn’t ask for my 2 cents, but I’m gonna say that this is the best you are going to get for a while. The reason I say this is because, as DoC has previously reported, Hilton seems to be trying to raise their point value to half a cent a piece for Amazon purchases. I can’t imagine that they can continue to offer this bonus and raise the point value. That would essentially be a $750 giveaway for only 3k in purchases. And don’t expect them to downgrade their points value in the short term either, since they are trying to get the better of Marriott/SPG ever since their messy merger. They appear to have been taking advantage of the chaos, and they wouldn’t want to screw themselves by following Marriott and killing their point system.

*end rant*

I am disappointed that SPG gold seems to have less benefit after the merge. I always get an upgrade (and 50% bonus points) with SPG. Now with Marriott, the upgrade is not guaranteed and only 25% bonus points.

My BGR referral still shows 100k for the no fee card, 150k for the ascend, and 125k for the business version. Just sharing what’s still available via referral.

Luckily, I was able to get the 150k Ascend deal when it started last year. But I forgot to self-refer myself from the no-annual-fee HHonors card. 🙁
