Our Verdict
Previous transfer bonuses for Marriott have been:
- December 1 – December 31, 2020: 30% transfer bonus
- September 1 – October 31, 2020: 40% transfer bonus
- June 10th – unknown end date, 2019: 50% transfer bonus (YMMV)

i just did one and the points showed up but the last activity date hasn’t updated..however, I forgot, but I did it also in december and it does show last qualifying activity being in december, so unless they changed it, it should work
Amex and or Chase need to improve their transfer rates to marriott. At least 1:2.
Has to be at least a 1:2:5 transfer for us to even consider. Pretty much zero chance for amex to do that. 1:3 would be the best case if you consider each SPG points were converted to 3x marriott. Even if MR was not as good as SPG, need at least 1 MR : 2.5 Bonvoy. But it will never happen TBH
But wasn’t the old Amex MR to SPG transfer ratio 3:1? Meaning 3,000 Amex points only got you 1,000 SPG points. So were essentially on the same playing field that we used to be when SPG was around.
As someone who was planning on making such a transfer to top off my Marriott account for an upcoming redemption, this is great. Had 211k and needed 240k for a redemption, so this means I had to transfer only 21k instead of 29k – superb timing.
