American Express has sent out e-mails to some cardholders thanking them for updating their address, despite no update being made. This is because American Express has changed how Apartment/Suite numbers are handled (now appears on the second line rather than at the end of the first line) causing the system to trigger an update e-mail. The e-mail reads as follows:
Thank you for providing an up-to-date address for your American Express account ending in XXXXX.
You would have thought American Express wouldn’t send these types of e-mails when it was their system that made the change but nothing surprises me anymore.

meh, i’m assuming it’s just an automated rule email sort of thing
nope, it’s a world of clickety-clickety-click with a bunch of real-life dummies getting paid to muck things up. same happening on other type of sites. partial re-inforcement at work.
yeah what about the disappearing of the old “statements & Activity” tab that allowed quick access to all account balances through the right column dropdown? This is a big problem. Anyone have a fix?
Agree. We used to be able to take a quick look on accounts outstanding balances / payment due dates by the side bar.
Now we have to go thru card by card, take much longer to go thru.
This is a BACKWARD “improvement”.
I miss the old old site very much – no fluffy stuff, clean and quick enough to navigate.
AMEX is not alone. Many banks have added useless stuff on their online banking sites in the name of updates which often make doing things online much longer!
All of these recent “improvements” by all banks are backward improvements. They’ve all hired a whole bunch of bootcamp grads that are eager to use the latest and greatest frontend frameworks to make everything super slow and provide the best animations and visual effects, and none of the business-related activities work anymore anywhere. This is an industry-wide phenomenon.
They have poor software and will eventually lead to more loopholes down the road.
Only if you didn’t already have it on the second line. I have a longer (mailing) street address the length of “12345 FIRST SECOND BLVD” and longer suite number “STE 123456” and I always enter it on a second line and Amex kept it there.
“but nothing surprises me anymore.”
So if the santa claus at the mall flashed you, you wouldn’t be surprised?
Not if it was sponsored by Amex
