Our Verdict
This is a great deal and I’m stewing that it hasn’t shown up on any of my American Express cards yet. Your best bet as always is to purchase something you’d need anyway from staples. If there isn’t anything you currently need, you could buy a $100 or $200 visa gift card. Both cards come with the same purchase fee of $6.95 and qualify for free shipping. This means you’ll make $8 cash back + credit card rewards per order.
Unfortunately it’s not possible to use a shopping portal for staples.com on gift card purchases anymore, but if you’re just making regular purchases it is possible. According to cashbackmonitor ShopDiscover is the highest portal offering 5% cash back, I’ve personally had success using a non discover card with shop discover as have others but topcashback also offers 3% for those interested (which currently has a $10 sign up bonus when you earn $10+ in rewards).
