The Offer
There’s a new targeted offer showing in some Amex logins:
- Get 3,000 additional Membership Rewards points each time you use your enrolled Card to spend a total of $200+ on room rate and room charges with a participating Marriott property
- Limit 6,000 Membership Rewards points (two charges of $200+ each will net you a total of 6,000)
There’s also another offer you may have already saved in your Amex account to get 2,000 MR on a $100+ Courtyard stay. That offer expires 12/31/16.
If you swipe $200 or more at a Courtyard location with a credit enrolled in both offers, you should get 5000 MR total.

Our Verdict
I got the Marriott offer my business MR card and the Courtyard offer on both business and personal MR cards.
The Marriott offer is excellent on its own and can be done twice; even more awesome is if you can use the Marriott offer at a Courtyard Marriott location and get both 3000 + 2000 for a single $200 swipe. Bear in mind there are just 12 days when these offers overlap since the Courtyard offer soon expires.
To maximize this deal, see if they’ll split up the Marriott charge into two separate swipes on the same card or between two registered cards.
In the past, it worked to buy a Marriott gift card at the front desk of a Marriott location as well, despite the terms which exclude gift cards. You can even resell a Marriott gift card for up to 88%.
