The Offer
There’s a new targeted offer showing in some Amex logins:
- Get 3,000 additional Membership Rewards points each time you use your enrolled Card to spend a total of $200+ on room rate and room charges with a participating Marriott property
- Limit 6,000 Membership Rewards points (two charges of $200+ each will net you a total of 6,000)
There’s also another offer you may have already saved in your Amex account to get 2,000 MR on a $100+ Courtyard stay. That offer expires 12/31/16.
If you swipe $200 or more at a Courtyard location with a credit enrolled in both offers, you should get 5000 MR total.

Our Verdict
I got the Marriott offer my business MR card and the Courtyard offer on both business and personal MR cards.
The Marriott offer is excellent on its own and can be done twice; even more awesome is if you can use the Marriott offer at a Courtyard Marriott location and get both 3000 + 2000 for a single $200 swipe. Bear in mind there are just 12 days when these offers overlap since the Courtyard offer soon expires.
To maximize this deal, see if they’ll split up the Marriott charge into two separate swipes on the same card or between two registered cards.
In the past, it worked to buy a Marriott gift card at the front desk of a Marriott location as well, despite the terms which exclude gift cards. You can even resell a Marriott gift card for up to 88%.

Does this mean that you can use it twice for EACH Amex card you added this offer to? i.e., 3 cards would mean a total of 18k points if you maxed each one out?
Can you use the gift card at a Marriot abroad??
Got Marriott offer on Amex gold but not Delta gold. The amex gold in general gets a lot more offers than the delta for whatever reason.
You won’t get MR offers on a non-MR card.
Went into my local Courtyard (SoCal) and bought a $200 Gift Card in the lobby with my Amex Bus Platinum. They said that it will only work at Courtyard and not any other Marriott. The card says that it can be used at participating Marriott and Ritz-Carlton. I’ve received 2 “Good News” e-mails from Amex Offers, so hopefully both offers will work.
sounds like i heard differently. i havent bought the GC from Courtyard yet, but plan to this week. the guy told me that the GC can be used at any Marriott chain hotels AND also SPG hotels. so i dont know what is actually true since you receive different information
what i really hope is this GC can be used in Marriott, Ritz-Carlton AND SPG

I just went to the Los Angeles Westside courtyard and they sell gift cards there.
Picked up a 200 gc with both offers on an amex card, got 2 push notifications on the offer from amex and also 2 emails that i redeemed.
Will update in a few days to see if both the 2000 and 3000 MR points post to my account.

I got the Marriott offer on the business card. Not on person.
Courtyard did not show up on either for me.
